Caribbean vs. Florida beaches ?
Obviously we've never been to the Caribbeans and never been to Florida (only via the internet). Since Florida is on the "other" side of the Caribbeans, are the beaches and greenery similar to those in Virgin Islands, for example ? And if so, where ? Florida seems to be more affordable for us this year.
We'd appreciate input from those who have seen it all. Thanks.

No comparison!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In my opinion the nicest beaches in Florida are those on Sanibel and Captiva - they are probably the closest you can come to a "Caribbean atmosphere" on the mainland. But they are not the Caribbean!!

No, it cannot compare. But if you go to Florida, be sure to go to the west coast side on the Gulf. Especially Sarasota is a nice beach area - we stay on Siesta Key. The water is warm, crystal clear, and no strong current - you can float in the same spot for days!
The Atlantic side is awful(for swimming)- murky water & strong undertows.

The beach at Marco Island (Florida's Gulph side) is incredible.
