Caribbean Islands OUTSIDE of the "Hurricane Belt"?!?!
 

Hi there,

So, my fiance and I have never been to the Caribbean and we would like to go this October (i.e., "Hurricane Season").

Is it true that there are some islands (besides Aruba, Bonaire, & Curacao) outside of the "Hurricane Belt". Grenada???

Is it too much of a risk for a rainy or worse honeymoon?

Last question, tropical October destination without a hurricane in sight?

Nothing is guaranteed but I am sure you know that. That being said I think the further south one goes the better the chances are. Barbados comes to mind as does Margarita island. The latter is a Venezulean property and as such requires a trip to Caracas first for customs/immigration so getting there takes a bit of time.

You might want to look at Tobago, which hasn't had a hurricane in quite a few decades. It's a lush, friendly, beautiful (away from Crown Point), quiet island, but you will get some rain in October.

Aruba and Bonaire are in the 2-4% range, Barbados 4-5%, the Bahamas stretch across the 10-14% range, southern tip of Florida is 18%.
