Caribbean Island vacation

I am planning on taking a vacation to the caribbean next winter. I would like to know what would be the best island to go with a modest budget, two teenagers, and secluded beaches. I would also like an island that is conservitive; meaning no nudist beaches and an openly gay community.

Cinnamon Bay or Maho Bay in St. John is the way to go. Affordable, lovely, and pristine! You will love it. Camping style and great prices. Book early for best rates. Best spot is cottage 10 on Cinnamon Bay.

Consider the DR or the ESJ towers in PR. This property is a condo, not too expensive, on the beach, and close to old San Juan. There is alot to do in PR too. I found it to be a wonderful surprise.

I would look at Bermuda. Rather stiff and conservative like their British heritage. No topless, etc..

I think Bermuda is rather expensive and I wonder if it is too chilly in the winter. Its the Atlantic, not the Carib.

Bermuda is not a winter destination if you want beach weather. Time to go to Bermuda is June ,July , August which is also high season.

Dave -

If you are looking for some one who already writes great travel guides (on this site), go to the Ireland forum and look for a guy called Bill. He has given a excellent and practical advice to posters to that forum. Give hi a look up. Has also a web site that details his own trips to Ireland!!

Worth a look.

Barbados would definitely be a great choice. It is definitely conservative, anyone who tries to take their bikini top off, etc. on the beach WILL have a local or fellow vacationer come tell them it is not appropriate. The people are also extremely friendly and polite. As far as secluded beaches, it really depends on where you stay, but you should be able to get by on a modest budget. Beware, though, the exchange rate is 1US$=2BB$, so don't expect that because it's a Caribbean country you will be living the high life
