Caribbean Beach Bars

Hello, I’m new to Fodors and anxious for your help. My husband and I are lucky enough to take an annual trip in February to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This year marks #38. He said it feels like yesterday LOL.

Our ideal location involves a Long Beach to walk with numerous beach bars to visit during the day and good food options for evenings. We’ve done our share of all inclusives but also really enjoy renting a home, villa etc.

Ideally we’d like to be in walking distance of most things or if taxi/Uber are a safe option that works too. As for budget, we always appreciate a bargain but also like good bedding and pillows 😀 so we typically end up in the $350-500 per night range.

We’ve already visited the following and would prefer to visit somewhere different. St John, St Lucia, St Maarten, Antigua, Turks/Caicos, Aruba, Belieze, Jamaica, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Bahamas

We had booked a beautiful home in St Croix for this year with our long time travel companions; however due to health concerns they’ve had to cancel. We’d like to save St Croix for a trip with them in the future.

Thanks so much for any insight!

Kathi

Check out the Frigate Bay area on St. Kitts. There are plenty of rental home. villas and condos within walking distance of both Atlantic side and Caribbean side beaches, more than a half-dozen restaurants and shopping plus (on the Caribbean side beach) at least 8 different beach bars. No Uber on the island but taxis are plentiful and safe. There are two other beaches within a 5 and 15 minute drive each with its own beachfront restaurants and several beach bars.

Anguilla has 35 stunning beach and over 80 different restaurants and beach bars. Look at Shoal Bay villas. They are located on one of the most picturesque beaches on the island where you'll find a few nearby restaurants and beach bars. No Uber on the island so you probably would want to rent a car for some or all of your stay.

If using Uber is a high priority, considering visiting Puerto Rico. If you stay in Isla Verde you'll have access to a long strand of beach, plenty of restaurants a few beach bars and you'll be only a short Uber ride from historic Old San Juan. You can also use city buses which are a very inexpensive way to get around. You can stay in some of the outlying quaint towns on the other coasts where there are nice beaches but you'll need a rental car as Uber isn't readily available outside of San Juan.

RoamsAround-thanks so much for your tips and thoughtful reply. I’ll definitely check out the spots you mentioned!!!

Definitely agree with Anguilla. I'm not sure it would fulfil your requirement of having numerous beach bars along a long beach, there will be some but not numerous. They are not all lined up next to each other. Meads Bay in Anguilla is my favourite beach are to stay, two gorgeous hotels either end for fab cocktails & amazing views, a long beach in between where there are some upscale restaurants, a new upscale bar (Savi Beach Club), couple of casual beach bars, Leons, Blanchards to name a couple. A real mix. And there are many dining spots in Anguilla, perfect for an anniversary, at Cap Juluca, Malliouhana, Julians, Jacala.....so many. There are direct flights now from Miami if that helps. Definitely rent a car.

Barbados might fit the bill too; the whole of the west coast is a long beach with broadwalk in some places, beach bars, restaurants etc.

Thanks for your thought Balthy! We’re currently researching Anguilla and will add Barbados to the research que. Ty!

My suggestions were going to be for Jamaica and Mexico. Those are completely off the table?
