No don't write ST. Lucia off.
But if you chose it, don't do the Wyndham if you're looking for that crystal clear water. It sounds like ejcrowe stayed at the Jalousie Hilton. I can't comment on the water clarity there but if ej says it's clear then I'm sure it is. But I think it's a more expensive option than the Wyndham right?
All I can tell you is that the water at the Wyndham was NOT clear. When we went to St. Lucia, I had my mind set for crystal-clear turquoise water. It was a last minute trip so I didn't do much research on it. Even though, we loved the island and had a great time, a part of me was disappointed about the water.
There's just one area where the water is clear and that's probably the area that ejcrowe is talking about.
So if you're comfortable with what he says and the price, then try the Jalousie.

I feel I should clarify my comments on the water's, er, clarity. When you are in the water, snorkeling or whatnot, the water was very clear in front of the Jalousie, at least in the summertime when I was there. However, if you're looking at the water from above (from your room, a helicopter, or whatnot), you'll see a beautiful turquoise for about ten feet from shore, then an immediate change to deep indigo. If you've seen pictures of Belize's Blue Hole, it's kind of along those lines. Basically, in this case it's the water's depth that makes it look so dark--it very steeply drops off just off shore. I was so taken aback by the beauty of St. Lucia and the glorious Pitons that I didn't miss the light colored water at all. Other people may be different. I didn't do the AI option when I was at Jalousie, but I don't imagine that it wouold be more expensive than a Sandals--and the views and the rooms are infinitely better!

I have seen topless sunbathing at Jolly Beach Antigua and at La Source Grenada which also has a nude beach!
