CAR RENTAL in GRAND CAYMAN?
Will be in Grand Cayman for 8 hrs from a cruise - want to see 7 mile beach, do stingray city and maybe turtle farm. Is it worth it to rent a car instead of cabbing it all over?? Any suggestions for the 8 hr stay would be great. Have a 8 year old and 14 year old.

Not sure if you can do all 3 within 8 hours. I would recommend signing up with a tour who could arrange a car pickup from the dock to drive you to the ferry to take you to Stingray City (to drive there would take at least an hour's worth of drive).
After that, I think you might have enough time to go either to the turtle farm (though I heard from the post that it might be under renovations due to last year's hurricane) or to 7MB. If that's the case, 7MB isn't too far from the ferry (I believe it's docked at the Hyatt hotel). My recommendation though, check out Rum Point instead of 7MB.
But, if you do decide to do all and rent a car, Grand Cayman is very easily to navigate.

Whatever you choose, much luck and have fun!!!

Wendy,
If your only going to be on the island for 8 hours, I don't think I would rent a car. Definetely do the Stingray Sandbar tour! That will be the best 3 hours you'll spend on your visit. Then I would just return and enjoy Seven Mile beach. Maybe have a bite to eat, then just soak up the sun!! Turtle Farm was heavily damaged by hurricane Michelle, so I don't know if it would be worth visiting yet. Enjoy Grand Cayman!!

If you'll be in town for 8 hours I would suggest taking your girls on a snorkel trip. Its a 1/2 day trip and it costs abot $30USD. It is a 3 stop trip usually. Then they would get to snorkel and see Sting Ray City as well.
I am sure the cruise ship offers on and its probably 3 times as expensive. If you search the travel sights I am sure you can find a smaller company that will pick you up at the dock. If they love to swim and see cool fish they will love it. I did.
I wouldnt rent a car, the cabs are pricey but if you have the tour operator pick you up, you could ask them to drop you on 7MB and then you'd only need to take a cab back to the ship, about $20.
