car or taxi
im going to barbados for five days at the end of the month for my wedding we are debating renting a car or using taxi's for transportation. we are staying at the royal pavillion and have guest that will be staying at a villa ten minutes away. mainly we will be traveling to and from airport and out to dinner at least twice. we can get a car for about three fifty. wonder how much cheaper a taxi will be for five people.

Get a car. Barbados has some of the best roads in the caribbean. You can't beat the freedom a car affords. Have fun. I love Barbados.

I visited Barbados last month. The Royal Pavillion is great!!! A taxi for 2 from the airport to the Royal Pavillion was $25. A taxi for 2 from the Royal Pavilion to Calabazza was $30 round trip (a 10 min ride if I remember right). The cost was about the same to the Cliffs restaurant too. Taxi rides add up quickly and get expensive. Sounds like a rental car is the way to go. Hope this helps.

I'd also suggest the buses as an alternative. We had fun riding them and they were readily available.

I agree with other posters. Rent a car, taxi fares will add up...the car will ultimately be less expensive and more convenient. Driving in Barbados is not difficult, the roads are good....signage isn't always the best but locals are friendly and helpful with directions.

Definitely for 5 people a car is the way to go. Contact Stoutes Cars at www.stoutescar.com and tell Ann that I recommended you (you'll get a discount that way). We've been using them since 1986 and they always have new, reliable cars. You have more freedom that way and the roads are excellent in the area you will be traveling.
