Cap Juluca- Still Worth the Hype?
Hi! We are staying in a junior suite at CJ for our honeymoon in July. Neither of us has been to Anguilla before, but it comes highly recommended by friends with similar interests.
We enjoy high quality resorts with friendly staff and clean uncrowded beaches. We love great food and lots of variety in available restaurants. We'll have a rental car for the 8 day stay. My question is whether or not CJ has passed its prime? Is it a "faded flower" or does it still provide good quality? Some reviews have made me question the upkeep of the property and the friendliness/helpfulness of the CJ staff. Any recent visitors who can help me feel better about our (already booked) decision? Also, is one floor of the junior suites preferable to others? Is the spa good? Thanks, Sandy |
I wondered too about Cap so on our recent trip to St. Maarten we took the ferry over to look around. I couldn't imagine this place was as good as all the hype but I was pleasantly surprised. Looks to me like an awesome place to stay if you can afford it.
There are some photos we took in the following, go to page 5: http://by102fd.bay102.hotmail.msn.co...648015736b78a2 I'm sure plenty of others will give you great recommendations. Good luck and just go for it! |
Cap Juluca is still stunning, the staff wonderful, and the beach fantastic.
Lots of great food on Anguilla, too many choices! CJ looks great-just there in early December, going again in April. A faded flower-not! As far as a junior suite, lots of info on this forum. The spa services are very good, they were working on more space this fall. Lots of treatments done in the room. You will have fun, stop worrying! |
Thank you both so much! We have been looking forward to trying some restaurants around the island- sounds like it will be a wonderful adventure!
If any readers out there have advice on great ways to spend a day on Anguilla, we're open for suggestions! Thanks, Sandy |
Go out on the catamaran Chocolat (sunset cruise is a great memory for a honeymoon); catch a ride on Junior's glass bottom boat at Shoal Bay East; spend a Wednesday or Sunday afternoon on Scilly Cay with live music & great rum punches; hang out at Johnno's or Roy's at Sandy Ground (a true Anguillian experience); if you snorkel, pack a lunch (GeeWee's is good) & hitch a ride with Calvin to Little Bay for lunch on a secluded beach (you'll find him at Crocus Bay). Enjoy -- it's a magical place.
