cannot decide which all-inclusive resort

My husband and I are having the same problem. We want to go to an AI adults only resort in Mexico. We have been to Excellence Resort in Punta Cana, and enjoyed it very much. This time we are looking for something that is a little more upbeat. Excellence PC was very laid back, no music around the pool. I have looked into Excellence Playa Mujeres, and Secrets, but would like to get some input from other people before we decide. The only other thing that is very important is the choice of Beer. I am a Miller Lite drinker, and in PC the didn't have that so I was drinking El Presidente Light which I enjoyed very much, along with the "Drink of the Day"

There are not as many adult only resorts than there are family AI's resorts. Also, many adult only or couples only resorts are pretty laid back.

In Mexico look at the Royal Playa del Carmen. Seemed more upbeat than some of the other resorts we've been to and a 5 minute walk to everything in Playa del Carmen. Also, look at the Secrect resorts and the Iberostar Grand Pariso.

In Jamaica look at Couples, Sandals and The Jewell Dunn's River in Ocho Rios. We had a great time at the Jewell. One of the better I resorts we have been to.

Here's a list of AI resorts in Mexico:

Foreign countries don't typically offer US beers as it is very expensive from them to obtain. If they do, the high cost is passed on to the consumer. Besides, it always better to par take in the local brews when on vacation.

Thank you for the information. My Travel agent also gave me El Dorado Royale and El Dorado Casitas. Do know anything about these resorts?

I stayed at the El Dorado Seaside Suites back in the early 2000's when it was under a different name. It's about 30 minutes away from Playa del Carmen, so an expensive taxi ride there and back. The beach in that area is not great. About 2 months after our vacation, they closed it for about a year for much needed renos. I personally would not recommend just because of the location.

I would recommend instead the El Dorado Maroma Beach. However, you stated you wanted something more upbeat and I don't think you will find that there.

Oh, and look at the adult only Iberostar in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I've read that have nightly bands and beach parties.

I'm finding it difficult to recommend adult only properties that have a more upbeat atmosphere. Many are geared towards honeymooners and celebrating anniversaries. That demographic is usually looking for quite and relaxation.
