Where is it possible to find the whitest and soft sand of the Caribbean ?

Never been to St John but for the softest sand, I don't think you can beat Anguilla. It was like walking through powedered sugar or baby powder.

I also collect sand and between Anguilla, Grand Cayman and Aruba, Anguilla's sand was the darkest (but you would only notice if you looked at them all side by side).

The sand on Anguilla's beaches is softer and whiter than the sand on any of the beaches at Caneel Bay. And while the beach at Cusinart is better than any of the ones at Caneel Bay you'll find the beach at CJ is even better. By the way if it means anything, Caneel Bay and the island of St. John is a much prettier and lusher island than Anguilla which is flat, scrubby and arid.

Caneel Bay's sand is quite soft. CB has SEVEN white sand beaches, all tree-shaded so you can be out all day w/o getting burned, all with wade-in snorkeling. I can't think of anything better for that combination. And the grounds at Caneel are extensive, romantic, gorgeous.

Caneel Bay may have 7 beaches, but Anguilla has 33 beaches -- all, beautiful and most deserted. The sand at Shoal Bay East, Mead's Bay, and Rendezvous Bay is about the whitest you can get.

Cap Juluca - hands down. Anguilla is a bit arid and scrubby, nevertheless the resorts / beaches are phenominal. The service is unbeatable as well, the ultimate in pampering.

Plus, the food everywhere in Anguilla is amazing and the people love their home.

A bit pricey, but worth every penny and more.

Ah, but the 7 beaches of Caneel are walkable from your room, and the other beautiful beaches of St.John's north shore are only a few minutes away. My point was that your beaching/snorkeling at Caneel can be 20 feet from your patio, and naturally-shaded.

Anguilla is nice. However, I will say that the sand is too white, I find it hard to look at it without shades when I walk the beach at midday (LOL). And if it is windy, because it is so light it can sand slap you.
