Cancun or St. Lucia
 

I want to take my husband on a surprise vacation for his birthday. I can't decide on Cancun or St. Lucia. I want somewhere where there are pretty beaches plus places to sightsee and nighlife! Can't decide between Cancun or St. Lucia.

These two destinations are very different. Cancun is drier than St. Lucia and much more developed. St. Lucia is a gorgeous island because of its lush mountains and rainforest, but it isn't known for its beaches OR its nightlife. If these are the priorities, go with Cancun. Places like St. Martin, St. Thomas or Aruba would probably also meet your criteria.

If you are looking for pretty beaches, you would be greatly disappointed in St. Lucia. If you want this to be a good surprise, pick Cancun.
