Cancel anniversary trip?

I have been planning a 10th anniversary trip to St. Lucia to the Jalousie Hilton just after Christmas since Jan.-Feb. last year. My wife has serious reservations given recent events and State Department advisories. Aside from the obvious consideration - will my wife be able to enjoy the trip under these circumstances - does anyone out there have any petinent advice or recent experience (i.e. since Sept. 11) regarding travel to St. Lucia in general or the Jalousie Hilton in particular? Thanks for any response.

Hi
Flew to St Lucia on 16 Sept, returning two weeks later. Everything was fine. Extra security at Hewanorra, extra bag checks etc, x ray and stuff, only ticketholders allowed in Departures.
The best thing about the holiday was to get away from the TV for 2 weeks. Must admit I felt good about getting on a plane home that had recently landed from UK and hadn't been sitting on the tarmac overnight.
You will love it

I personally agree with your wife. The airlines dont have any intentions of upgrading security unless the government forces there hand, and the way there dragging there feet it going to be a while.MY ADVICE IS TO JOIN THE RANKS OF JOHN MADDEN AND KEEP YOUR FEET ON THE GROUND UNTIL ONE OF THE AIRLINES HAS THE BALLS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND STRAIGHTEN OUT SECURITY ON THERE OWN INSTEAD OF SPENDING MILLONS OF DOLLARS ON COMERCIALS BULLSHITTING EVERBODY BY HAVING SOME HOMO FLIGHT ATTENDANT TELLING EVERBODY EVERYTHINGS HONKYDORY.

I wouldn't take John Madden's advice on travelling any more than I'd take his advice on healthy eating, after all, he's a walking heart attack. Someone dies every 33 seconds here in the US from heart disease, I don't see Madden altering his diet to avoiding dying that way.

As for DTOUR, I think it's time for him-her to try a new way of aggravating people. The childish ranting was mildly amusing the very first time you did it, but now its just a bore. While I agree there's no need to sugarcoat an issue like this, there's also no need to crapcoat it.

FyI-Go on your trip, its silly to stop! I flew a few weeks ago and yes I was nervous, but once I got to the airport I was more realxed. Every passenger checked everyone else out, and secruity was better! The return flight out of Bermuda had the most securtiy, all carry ons searched, bomb sniffing dog checked out plane, and the cleaning crew was wanded as they got on the plane! I also just booked a trip to Antigua, and had a hard time getting space on a flight as so many were canceled!
The Jalousie Hilton is beautiful, situated between the Pitons! It has beautiful sunsets and will be very tranquill! The pool setting is lovely- situated near the beach with lots of Palm trees. The spa is excellent! The tough part of the trip is the 45-60 minute van ride from the airport to the hotel. The roads are very narrow and WINDY so if you are prone to motion or car sickness be prepared! It sounds like you booked this trip-go and enjoy!
People are still traveling! Happy Anniversary!

HEY ANA IM OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS

Hummmm Nov 7th, 2001 05:40 PM

To DTOUR - Regarding your comments:

"and the way there dragging there feet it going to be a while.MY ADVICE IS TO JOIN THE RANKS OF JOHN MADDEN AND KEEP YOUR FEET ON THE GROUND UNTIL ONE OF THE
AIRLINES HAS THE BALLS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND STRAIGHTEN OUT SECURITY ON THERE OWN"

My suggestion to you would be to go back to school and learn the difference between "there" and "they're" and "their". Then maybe when you start dispensing advice about airline security (or anything else for that matter), people would take you a bit more seriously.
