Can you rent cell phone on Cayman

Can you rent a cell phone on GC to make calls back to the US?

Are there rental booths at the airport?

Leaving tommorow and DH has now decided to check on this. My cell is set up to work on GC but guess he wants cheaper rate -- he has tons of business calls to make back to the States.

Tried looking on Cable and Wireless (of GC) website but it is down.

Grand cayman is extremely expensive! I would suggest you setting up an account with skype and using it when you go to internet cafes. It's setup to phone home there, but you might not want to pay the over priced per minute calls.

A company called KFone does cell phone rentals, not sure of the price, but somewhere around US$5-10 per day plus about 40c per minute.

As to Cayman being expensive, my resort charges a flat US$1 per minute to call anywhere in the world. I'd say that is pretty darned reasonable for hotel phone charges.

Whatever you do, don't use the credit card calling options, they charge several bucks connection fee, plus a couple of bucks per minute.

We have an unlocked quad band cell phone that we bought to use in Europe last summer. Should that work? Is there somewhere you can buy a SIM card for cell phone coverage. We just need to be able to stay in touch with our college age daughter at home.

Thanks.

Just got back. We rented a cell phone at the Reef Resort. It was $5 a day (could put on credit card) and $.30 or $.35 per minute (cash for minutes and could buy more when used up first minutes purchased). Hubby had lots of business calls to make so it was much cheaper than my cell.

Can you buy prepaid calling cards??

I think you can but hubby wanted the cell for his calls and for employees to be able to call him.
