Can you island-hop from St. Maarten's?

My husband and I are considering to travel to St. Maarten in July but would like to know how feasible is it to travel to other islands while we are there. What are the surrounding islands? Which ones are worth the trip? Do you travel in ferry? How long is the ride?

Thanks in advance for your help!

From St. Maarten (no "s" on the end, by the way), you can ferry to Anguilla or St. Barth. You can also fly to several different islands from there, including the above two, plus Statia, Saba, Antigua, and I suspect many of the Lesser Antilles.

FWIW, the ferry to St. Barth is not so affectionately known as the Vomit Comet, so be prepared for motion sickness if you go that route.

It's a quick and fun flight to St. Barth. 15 minutes tops! Well worth a day and more trip there. Too many awesome beaches and restaurants to cover in a few hours.

You can also get to Montserrat w/a stopover in Antigua. If you do, take the volcano tour w/the Leas www.volcano-island.com.

The ferry from St. Martin to Anguilla leaves every 45 minutes during daylight hours from Marigot. It's about a 25 minute trip and you don't need a reservation. Anguilla is about beaches and restaurants and not much else (okay, I forgot there's a golf course) and the beaches are spectacular.
