Can i get recommendation for places to stay in ST JOHN

looking for a nice place that offers relaxation and hopefully a nice beach, not very important since we do plan on exploring many beaches around the island as well.

Len:

There are so many choices. Upscale Caneel Bay resort, the Westin and our favorite, renting a villa. There are so many villas and villa sites to choose from.

Get opinions from people who have been to St. John.

Mark

I would choose Caneel over the Westin. It's more expensive, however, their beaches are amazing (all 7). Westin's beach is man made and not very impressive. The Westin has nice grounds and pool and you could always rent a car and go to different beaches. I heard the villas on the island are great also. I loved Caneel so that's my recommendation.

We stayed at the Westin in June.
Very family friendly.
Commercial looking, did not have island character at all
Caneel Bay was much more peaceful and upscale, depends what you are looking for.
Also, we rented a 'beachfront' room which has a boardwalk between you and the water, so every morning you have to keep you shades shut, no privacy

Yes, Caneel is lovely but the post above, I agree with. Who wants a room where everyone can look in. This is why we choose villas. You may have to drive to the beach but that's the fun of St. John because so many beaches to explore. The upside of a villa is total privacy and tons of room.
