Can anyone tell me the earliest time of the year to visit Bermuda, where we will be able to swim in the ocean?
We are northerners...from Michigan!

We would like to make our first trip to Bermuda, but would like to go as early as possible. We do not like extreme heat and humidity so summer is OUT.

We also would like to go and try to avoid the "high" season rate, since Bermuda is quite expensive.

Is March and April too early to go?

Thanks a million.

Susan

I was there in mid-March and the water was ok. It certainly wasn't warm, but it was tolerable without a wetsuit.

I would wait until at least the middle of April-beginning of May. It still won't be too hot and it is considered prime Bermuda Season.

June, July & August are the best times for swimming. My daughter was there in late May/early June & it was too cool for her taste and we live in Virginia!

We've been there in July and August and both times are perfect. Here the high season is the best time. Rest of the year you get more spring-like weather nice for lots of things but not swimming. However, coming from Michigan you may like cold water.

If you want nice, warm waters I'd look to the Southern Caribbean which is the same year-round -- water temps around 83 - 86 degrees.

Thank you.

We were just hoping to take advantage of the lower rates.

I suppose we could still do other things, and just bring a wetsuit with us.

Thank you again!

May/June is the best time. April can be iffy and July will be hot.

Bermudians do not traditionally go "overboard" which is what they call going into the sea, until the end of May and not after Labour Day weekend. The water can be quite cool until at least mid to end of May.
