Camino Real Cancun?

I've been to Cancun four times. Stayed at the Westin Regina (very nice, but farthest from everything), Cancun Playa (midway on the big leg of the "7"; OK room, nice grounds), the Calinda (good location, can you say budget?) and the Continental Villas Plaza (good location, nice grounds, great room, but we stayed in a time share villa -- I understand other rooms aren't as nice). I often frequent a Cancun Web site and have heard mixed replies about the Camino Real and the Krystal -- two places I always thought were supposed to be really nice. The Camino Real has been described as run-down, showing its age, no beach to speak of because it's on the point. Ditto for the Krystal. Post a response to this Web site and you should get a ton of info: www.cancunmx.com, then go to Vacationing Here.

We went to Cancun twice last Fall - first time we stayed at the Westin Regina - nice, but too far away from everything. The second time we stayed at the Hyatt Regency - to use the beach we had to go next door to the Camino Real as the Hyatt had no beach. The Camino Real has two beaches - both were great. The location, to us, is the best - within walking distance of everything. One of the best meals we have ever had was in a restaurant there and quite inexpensive. We expect to go back again in June and this time we will be staying at the Camino Real!

I travelled to Cancun in 1997 and stayed at Caesar Park. I don't know how much you're willing to spend, but this hotel was WONDERFUL!! Great service, gorgeous landscaping (7 interconnected pools!) and beautiful rooms and beach. Its toward the lower end of the "7" so its away from most of the action. However, the buses run constantly and only cost 3 pesos so you never feel disconnected.
If you're on more of a budget, try the Sheraton. I have heard of great deals on that hotel in Cancun. Friends on the same trip stayed at the Sheraton and said it was a nice hotel but I didn't go in to see for myself.
Good luck and have a great trip.

I've stayed at many different hotels...this past Nov. we stayed at the Camino Real. While some could say it's showing it's age (really bright decor and some old macrame wall hangings) it's actually very well maintained and super-clean. I have to say, the absolute cleanest hotel room we've ever had in Cancun! The location is perfect too! Other 2 favorites are The Omni and Cont.Villas Plaza. Have a great trip! <BR>
