Calling Puerto Rico experts

Trying to decide on a 4-night getaway at the end of Jan/early Feb. for two adults. Money is not an issue, just want to fly direct to San Juan from NYC and drive no more than 2 hours. Prefer no kids, but not necessary. I've looked into these hotels:

www.copamarina.com

www.ponce-hilton.com

www.horneddorset.com

www. waterclubsanjuan.com

Comments? Suggestions for others?

If yopu seek isolation Horned Dorset and Copamarina fit the bill. The Water Club is 10 minutes from the airport and is in a major tourist area and if you decide to stay near the airport consider the EL San Juan. You might also consider the Hyatt Dorado Beach.

Isolation is what we seek. Thanks for the tips!

Try the Rincon Beach Resort, you won't be disappointed and the The Horned Dorset Primavera Hotel is what you are looking for. RBR is a newer place, just open up last year and it seems sometimes you are the only ones on the beach. Rincon is also noted as a beach town. Good luck and have a nice vacation.

Fuita,
Gee, its strange I just did a search with your name and 2 posts came up (actually 3 but the other is not you just a close spelling of your name). Maybe you have been posting for a while, but not under your "real" name. I found your previous post a little on the nasty side, considering you are not a major contributor of travel info. Maybe you are one of those people you are complaining about, posting nasty remarks under "fake" names - from your tone it sure sounds like it.
You may not see many under mine but then again I'm not complaining about this board either.

We stayed at the Copamarina for a long weekend. It was nice, but the beach was lousy; doubt it's what you're expecting. Never made it to the Horned Dorset when I lived in PR. I guess I have to go back!

I just realized that I was confusing the Copamarina's beach with another hotel we stayed at during that weekend. I think their beach is fine, but it does look a little seaweedy in the website's picture.

The nice thing abou the Rincon area is that you'll have a few more choices about where to dine. There wasn't much near the Copamarina.

PLEASE READ!!!
Just got back from a 4-night trip to the Hyatt Cerromar/Hacienda del Mar in Puerto Rico. THE WORST TRIP EVER!!!
Room was old & needed upgrading. Bedding was worn. Service was horrible.
No one goes out of there way to help you.
My second day there I ate at the Swan Cafe hotel rest (breakfast) & got violently ill. I was throwing up in the tub while on the toilet bowl w/non-stop #2! I got no sleep & had to stay in the room for two days. When calling for a mop to clean the mess I made on the bathroom floor THREE times, I was shocked to discover that the mop would NEVER come! WE were forced to clean the mess ourselves w/scott towels. On top of this, I begged for many rolls of toilet paper that I would need throughout the night & they claimed they can only give me 2 rolls at a time. They really gave me a hard time about this, even knowing how ill I was! The one day that I got to go out, I played golf at Hyatt Cerromar & wasn't impressed w/course. Last night there, which was one of my only two nights out, it rained & we went into Old San Juan & Condado Plaza. Again wasn't impressed at all. Puerto Rico is very sleezy & unexotic. Wish I had gone to St. Martin or Bahamas instead. Would have enjoyed more & probably would not have gotten sick like I did! Save your money & go somewhere else!
