Calling Back to US from Jamaica

Does anyone know of any inexpensive ways to call from Jamaica to the US. MCI quoted me about $20 for a 10 minute call on my calling card. Do the hotels also charge a surcharge on calling card calls? I read somewhere that you cannot use credit cards to call using MCI from Jamaica? Does anyone know about this?
Thanks!
Look at a SPRINT prepaid calling card. I used one last year and it works from most islands. Call 800-366-0707 and ask them if it is good from Jamaica to the US. It's cheaper than using a regular calling card.

Its expensive to call the US from Jamaica. (If you can even get through to an operator). One hotel, Wyndham Rose Hall said if you don't get an anwser back home in 4 rings on the 5th you will be charged $15.00 surcharge. Its true. Also, very difficult to even make a call to the US. Yes in this day and age. Do you have to make a call? If not, don't. If so, do it once. Talk fast.

We dialed direct from our room, got right through and the 1st try, (we were at Sandals Negril), and talked for less than 5 minutes. The charge to our room was only $5.55 US. No complaints there!

Oops, I forgot something. Our resort charged us $4.00US to use a calling card. The second time we called we used our AT&T card, we were charged the $4 to our room and thought we would just compare the charge when we got our bill. That way we would have the info for future trips.

I think I answered this question on another board but...last night I bought a new SPRINT pre paid calling card and it IS good from Jamaica to the US. I think I got 150 some minutes for $30.

I always go to a pay phone in the lobby and avoid their nasty little service charges they tack on to the phone bill. The one that really got me was charging me $3 to call an 800 number! It's not like they aren't already making enough money on you at hotel!

Will our Sprint cellphone work in Jamaica? If so, what kind of charges can we expect calling back to the US?
