cabs in San Juan

I Have heard that cabs in San Juan can be quite expensive. Is that true? Also, how long would it take/how much would it cost to go from the El Conquistador into town?

I don't think that cabs in San Juan are particularly expensive. When you ask how much it would cost to go from El Conquistador to "town", do you mean Old San Juan? Or Fajardo? If you mean Old San Juan, then that will be expensive because it is about an hour away. If you mean Fajardo, I doubt if it would be more than $10.

Thanks. I didn't realize San Juan is so far away. Is there anything to do in Fajardo?

When I stayed at El Conquistador I didn't go to Fajardo so I can't be helpful with that other than to say that I know it is a small, quiet town. They have a few restaurants but other than that, I don't think there is a lot to do (if I am wrong, I am hoping other posters will correct me). If you are still deciding on where to stay and you want to be closer to Old San Juan, there are several options in Isla Verde and Condado.

It's about $100 on a taxi from Conquestador to Old San Juan. Conquestador may have a shuttle bus you could look into.
