Bus info on St. Lucia and St. Thomas

Hi, we're visiting St. Lucia and St. Thomas as cruise stops, and prefer to take public transportation (there are 7 of us). Is it possible to take a bus to a nice beach from castries in St. Lucia or The cruise dock in Charlotte Amalie? Which beaches on these islands are accessable by bus?

What about Marigot bay in St. Lucia or Magens in St. Thomas, or would we need to taxi there?

Looking for PRETTY beaches, with palm trees please. Thank you!

I'm still waiting for a response.

I've been off the boards for almost a year, I guess I'm not the only one.

Anybody out there??????

Can't speak for St. Lucia but on St. Thomas I would recommend a taxi.

Nina,

I am also going to recommend that you look for either a taxi or a safari bus on St. Thomas.

While VITRAN does offer public bus service on the island, it is not the most reliable or time effective way to travel.

At the cruise ship dock you will find tons of taxis available. You will also likely find open air safari trucks/buses that will take you to the most popular destinations around the island. My guess is that Magens will be one of those.

As for what beaches are readily accessible from the cruise ship dock on STT, the answer is all of them. The island is not that large. Brewers, Morningstar, Sapphire, Coki, Secret Harbour, Magens, Hull, etc. are all only a taxi ride away. Much depends on which you prefer.

Ditto a taxi for St. Lucia. You could contact the tourist offices for each island and they would give you bus info, but from what I understand, it's not so reliable on St. Lucia.
