Budget Traveller/First time traveller...any Caribbean destination suggestions?
Mid-twentysomething females looking for a 1 week getaway to the Caribbean (we're first time travellers and on a budget) ... any suggestions?
We want to be able to enjoy the beach(relaxing), participate in outdoor activities(adventure) and be able to mingle with people around our age (25 and over).
Your suggestions are appreciated!

You might look into Our Lucaya, on Grand Bahama Island in the Bahamas. They are running specials right now and I just saw $99rt from NYC.
It also depends on when you want to travel, because the rates are much higher now through May and go down with the off season.
Good luck with your trip.

The Grand Bahama suggestion is a decent, relatively inexpensive option.
There is also an Apple Vacations package that my wife and I have taken twice to Nassau. It's an easy, quick getaway that isn't expensive.
We did it in December one year and in May last year and May was better.
I don't know your point of origin, ours was Cleveland. We start in Erie, PA and book a hotel near Hopkins airport ($40.00 for Candlewood Suites on priceline.com) and leave about 7:30am. There is one stop in Cincinnati and arrive in Nassau about noon. We stayed at the Nassau Beach Hotel on Cable Beach and were in the water at 1:30.
You can get four nights on a special for around $425.00 for air and hotel. It's a good bargain. Try the Apple Vacations website for any current or upcoming specials and details.

Consider Isla Mujeres--a small carribean island 10 miles from Cancun.
The least expensive place we have found. Also, very safe and Norde Beach is about as nice as they get--snorkeling too. The youth hostel on the Island assures you of meeting young people from all over the world. We spend a lot of time on the island and keep up a home grown brouchure that we e-mail out on request. Also check out

Try a Club Med Wild Card. You tell them when you want to go and for a dicounted price, they will tell you which of 5 possible resorts you will go to. In 7 days prior to your departure, they will let you know where you are headed. We just came back from the family escape (same idea but for families) and had a blast.
