You made an excellent choice - definitely the best on St. Croix, and one of the better resorts in the Caribbean.
Although various activities are offered, it is a fairly quiet environment - lots of space in proportion to the number of rooms.
You may encounter some families with children in the spring (esp. school vacation periods) and summer - somewhat fewer in the winter.
Three small but nice beaches on the property; some snorkeling possible from shore. You MUST take a daysail to Buck Island, which has incredible snorkeling and an undeveloped beach area. If possible, go when there are no cruise ships in port.
There are several good restaurants in Christiansted, which is just a few miles west of the Buccaneer. I believe a shuttle is available if you don't rent a car.
There are tennis courts and a golf course at the resort; a better golf course is about 10 miles west.
Besides Buck Island, other possible things to see: the so-called "rain forest" toward the west end of the island; Whim House; rum distillery; downtown Christiansted; beer-drinking pigs; Davis Bay; Cane Bay if you're scuba divers; Divi casino is you're gamblers.
If you are away from the resort after dark, exercise caution - St. Croix does have some crime problems.
