BUCCANEER RESORT?

My Hubby and I are going to the Buccaneer Resort for 10 days....How did you like it? Is it nice? From what Ive read it seems busy with activities, is it romantic or a lot of families? I hope its fun! Any advice on restaurants? Do most people eat at the hotel or do most people eat out in ST. Croix?

ALSO...>What is the pool area like? What is the Beach area like?

Thanks!!!

The Buc is probably the nicest property in STX. There weren't a lot of activities going on when we were there. It was pretty quiet. The beaches were small but nice, the food was very good. The view from their restaurant is something at night with all the lights of C'stad. I think you'll be happy with your choice.

You made an excellent choice - definitely the best on St. Croix, and one of the better resorts in the Caribbean.
Although various activities are offered, it is a fairly quiet environment - lots of space in proportion to the number of rooms.
You may encounter some families with children in the spring (esp. school vacation periods) and summer - somewhat fewer in the winter.
Three small but nice beaches on the property; some snorkeling possible from shore. You MUST take a daysail to Buck Island, which has incredible snorkeling and an undeveloped beach area. If possible, go when there are no cruise ships in port.
There are several good restaurants in Christiansted, which is just a few miles west of the Buccaneer. I believe a shuttle is available if you don't rent a car.
There are tennis courts and a golf course at the resort; a better golf course is about 10 miles west.
Besides Buck Island, other possible things to see: the so-called "rain forest" toward the west end of the island; Whim House; rum distillery; downtown Christiansted; beer-drinking pigs; Davis Bay; Cane Bay if you're scuba divers; Divi casino is you're gamblers.
If you are away from the resort after dark, exercise caution - St. Croix does have some crime problems.

East of Buccaneer you'll find a restaurant called Duggans Reef. Go there! Everything we got there was excellant and the portions were big. Might want to make a reservation though.

We stayed at the Buccaneer about 8-9 years ago and have since traveled all over the Caribbean. To date, the accomodations and atmosphere of that resort has exceeded any other. Get a beach front room...you just walk out the door and onto the sand. Fantastic!
