Bringing food to T&C
 

Hello-

We are going to Provo at the end of April and we plan on eating dinner out every single night for a full week, but making breakfast and lunch at our condo to save money. Can we bring packaged, unopened food from the States with us without any issues? Also, what can we expect from the grocery stores there? Will we have limited choices as far as lunchmeat, cheeses, milk, etc. Just need to know what to buy there vs. what to bring since my son is 3 and he's used to having some staples around. However, he's not a picky eater so finding stuff for him to eat at restaurants is not an issue. Appreciate your help!

Yes, you can bring packaged foods but unless you need specific items or are on a strict dietary regimen there's no need to bring any food products. You'll be able to get pretty much what you want on-island.

The IGA Supermarket is fairly similar to what you have back home. You may not have all the same brands but there's plenty of choices (with both nam brand and store brand items), especially snacks, cookies, and other goodies most 3YO's and adults enjoy. No problem finding lunch meats, milk, cheeses, etc.

you are allowed to take any prepackaged food in your checked luggage. or anything frozen in a cooler. you may not take any fresh fruits or vegetables.
roams is correct that most of your usual groceries are available on provo, but the prices are really high. milk & dairy especially.
i normally travel with a cooler as we like to stay in villas. in luggage we take coffee/tea, cereal, goldfish, tuna, pb&j. also lots of ziploc bags as everything gets stale or soggy as soon as it's opened. anything dry - chips, crackers, cookies keeps best in the freezer < even for just overnight storage.

don't miss the tiki hut - fun, good food & your son can watch boats in the marina & feed the occasional seagull.
