Melissa;

I've never actually stayed at BRB, but I have been on the property several times.(I've friends who have a villa near there and we get a day pass now and then for the fun of it) The resort is on a very nice beach. The property itself is about a 3 star. Very clean and well run with lots of activities if you choose. The food is good and abundant as are the drinks. Runaway Bay itself is a centrally located quiet village. We've been there 7 times now.
Relax!!!!!You'll have a very nice time there.

Breezes Runaway Bay is a great moderate resort! They have all the activities of the upper crust resorts like Grand Lidos (owned by the same comapany) and Sandals its rival. The difference is unlike GL and Sandals, Breezes is alot cheaper. The rooms are not deluxe and there is less choice as far as restaurants and no room service or anything like that. The beach is nice (for that side of Jamaica, Negril on the west side has the best beaches) onsite golf, snorkeling etc. Drinks are good and plentiful and they feed you 24/7. I enjoy Breezes resorts and did Breezes Bahamas with a group of 4 couples (had a blast) and Breezes Runaway Bay when hubby and I wanted a cheap getaway with plenty of sports activity. This is not a "budget" resort, but a "moderate" one that has REALLY good sales occasionally making it a cheap getaway sometimes. My only complaint was that there was little to do in the evenings. There was an onsite disco, but we looked in there each night and every night but one, there were less than 5 couples in there. They have nightly entertainment as well but its usually over by 9p.m. and after that it is rather quiet. You can sit at the bar and drink all night if you want but if you are looking to go dancing or something else, it will not be there with the exception of Saturday night in our case. Enjoy your trip Superclubs is a great chain of resorts.

Melissa:

I went to Breezes last year for New Years. We stayed 5 nights, had a great time. We went in a group of 7...so we always had a party ourselves if we wanted one.

I agree with what previous people have said...great place for the price. High value on activies, food and drinks (except the wine...the wine sucked, but then I really like a good glass and this was a run-of-the-mill table wine) Also, nightlife wasn't that great, except with the New Year's Eve party. They have a piano bar sing-a-long that worked well with the older crowd. And the disco had nightly parties, but it was mostly the late teens early 20s crowd. No place to really go and dance as a couple. (They had a PJ party and a toga party while we were there)

Beach was great, snorkeling was good, ocean kyaking (sp?) was great as was the "fun" group activities by the beach/pool area. Hot tubs were fun in the evening, not a lot of people around.

We golfed a few times we were there and completely enjoyed ourselves with that activity as well.

So bottom line, you'll have a great time at the resort...and don't forget to go off the AI and take a tour to Ocho Rios: to Fern Gully and Dunn's River Falls as well as the botanical gardens. We had a great time at all these places.

Sheli
