Bougainvillea Beach Resort

My wife and I are making our first trip to Barbados the end of June. We are staying at the Bougainvillea Resort. Looking for advice / help should we venture out to the different dinning locations to eat or dine there. Any recomendations to of what night spots for a middle aged couple to should go to or any sites that we should visit while there. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

We just returned yesterday from a 10 night stay at Bougainvillea. Like you this was our first trip to Barbados. We were extremely happy with this resort. We had a one bedroom room that was spacious and comfortable. The pool area was and beach areas were very nice as well and the service was great. We could not find a fault with Bougainvillea.

FYI, we are a 40-something couple from Chicago, US and were looking for a place to relax with a good book in the sun after a cold winter. We got exactly that.

That having been said, we did not do a lot of sightseeing. We did visit Bridgetown one afternoon. We are not much for shopping but enjoyed the town.

We really enjoyed Earthworks Pottery. They make beautiful pottery on-sight and the location has some nice views of the island. One caution, if you are not interested in pottery, don't go, as it is in a residential area and there is nothing else in the way of shopping or sights close by.

We relied on the Bougainvillea staff for restaurant recommendations. We did not have a bad meal in Barbados. Also, they were very helpful in planning activities, often on short notice. We went on a 3-hour dinner cruise aboard the catamaran Rubiyet. We thoroughly enjoyed it. As one of our companions aboard said "if there is a better way to spend 3 hours, I can't think of it". We agree. Enjoy your trip.

We've stayed at Bougainvillea several times. The staff and accommodations are wonderful. I've never been that impressed with the restaurant (other than breakfast or lunch).

Big B is a fantastic store with everything you could want for food (also a deli with hot carry out foods).
Go down the South Coast road past St. Lawrence Gap & you'll eventually come to a traffic light (maybe 2 miles from you). Turn right at the light and then about 2 blocks down on the left is The Big B -- you won't be disappointed. It's much better than the on store on the south coast road.

Restaurants -- be brave - venture out to the West Coast for fabulous food/decor and service. The Cliff and Carambola not to be missed -- also Daphne's.

South Coast in the Gap area are Bellinis and Pisces (some others as well) but we like these best for moderate prices. I do not care for Josephs alto some seem to be satisfied.

Write me directly if you'd like detailed info. Our 17th trip is coming up in October and I'd love to help you all.

Regards,

Lois
