Boo Hoo. More changes in Bermuda.
The Waterloo House is closing and apparently the Coral Beach Club and Horizons will close as well. The Waterloo House will be converted to business/residential use. A new property rumored to be Four Seasons will replace the Coral Beach Club and Horizons.
I hope it is good for Bermuda, but I will certainly miss these grand old properties. |
Oh no! Very sad. I just toured The
Coral Beach Club! I will also miss these grand old properties!! And you know they will build and build--- |
cmcfong do you have any idea when
The Waterloo House will close? Old Bermuda and the Bermuda we know and love will be gone with these properties being sold. |
It is so sad, Penny. Here is a link to the article in The Royal Gazette November 20 edition.
http://tinyurl.com/2tegv9 They only say the closing will be in early 2008. I had noticed a real decline in the TA comments about Waterloo and wondered what was going on. Such a great old property; but began to show wear and neglect which went unaddressed. I loved going out to Coral Beach for the day. These properties will not be replaced in kind and a bit of Bermuda's historical charm will pass with them. I am going to Bermuda in two weeks and will stop by to take one last look before the ax falls. |
cmcfong I just booked for 12/23 - 1/3. Wahoo! Great places!
|
I will just miss you bhonoreh. If the weather holds I will be able to attend the Holiday Boat Parade.
Travel safely and enjoy your trip home. |
The Royal Gazette reported the closure of Waterloo House on Nov.20. BUT, the Bermuda Sun reports that is not accurate. Waterloo is to remain open. Interesting!

cmcfong....tho I wish it were, Bermuda is not my home. It is my sister's home. And I am very much looing forward to seeing her. It's been a year.
And I hope your travels are safe and your trip a relaxed and happy one. Oh, and I love the Boat Parade! |
