Bonefishing on Provo
 

Has anyone fished off shore for bonefish on Provo? My husband and son would like to give it a try but are not sure where to go. I thought I saw someone doing it once but con't remember where we were. Also, I have no idea if they were successful. Any tips are appreciated!

I've used it to research Out Island trips. A search on Provo came up with numerous hits.

hi critch, i recall seeing bonefishing as well. i think out in the leeward area or near the conch farm.

i do know that one of the main reasons the first tourist went to provo was for the bonefishing. and by all reports have heard it is very good - guess for little fish they are big fighters.

They did try with a guide once and did not have any luck. Price tag was high too! Think they would just like to play around with it themselves this time.

There are several places on island where the bonefishing is excellent.

First, you will need a fishing license. If you go with one of the fishing guides they will provide you with a one day license. If you plan on fishing on your own. You should buy the month license. You can pick one up in Turtle Cove Marina--there is a trailer behind the painted mural you see from the Tiki Hut.

You can fish Flamingo Lake. Go Leeward Highway and turn right onto Venetian Road. The road cuts Flamingo Lake and Turtle Lake. You will find lots of bonefish near the culvert but will need to be skillful. At that area they seem to be very wary.

You might also try fishing in Silly Creek. We have a house on the creek and you can see them tailing at low tide.

If you are renting a villa--many of them have kayaks which you can use to fish.
