Bolongo Bay -St Thomas

Would like an HONEST and OBJECTIVE review. Especially cleanliness and smell
of rooms and the food.
Thinking of going in June , wife and three teen daughters

I did not stay at this hotel BUT I was on the beach here and was very disappointed - I considered staying here since it was an all inclusive and upon seeing the beach was very glad I did not - it was small - and not upkept - it had a lot of rocks etc - We stayed at Secrets Harbour and I can tell you that was a wonderful resort as far as the rooms and the beach - it was not all inclusive though if that is what you are looking for - unfortunately I believe there are only 3 on St. Thomas - we did a lot of our own breakfast cooking - packed lunches for the beach and had dinner out every evening! I went with my husband and a 15 and 12 year old - Hope you have a great time - it is a beautiful island!

I haven't stayed there either but while planning our trip for July (we settled on St John) a friend who honeymooned on St Thomas recommended we NOT stay at Bolongo Bay. Her main complaint was the beach and that it was so rocky. She suggested staying on the North Side if you go to St Thomas. Have a great time and hope you find the perfect place to stay!

did not stay at bolongo but was not overly impressed when we stopped by.
if you need ai look at wyndham sugar bay.
if you don't need ai secret harbour is excellent.
sh does have a nice restaurant (open 3 meals daily) and beach bar/grill
both offer good snorkeling - better at sh
you need a car if you're going to stay at sh to go to grocery or anywhere else.
you need taxi or car to get anywhere from all 3 resorts.

My husband and I first visited Bolongo Bay in 2004 and have been back twice a year ever since. Our rooms are always clean and have never had a problem of odor. Housekeeping does a great job. The food at both Iggies and Lobster Grill is very good. If you haven't done so, you can go to bolongobay.com to see menus and get other information. We always go AI and with 3 teens that may be a plus for you. As far as the beach, yes the water is "rocky" in some areas because of a reef there. But the water in front of the water sports center is not. I would recommend this resort to you and your family.

Hi AmyKay - I see that you are planning a trip to St.Johns in July with your family.. we are in the process of planning a trip as well with two teens, ages 18 and 15. We thought we would hit St. Thomas or St. Croix first for a day or two to settle in, and then rent a villa for one week on st. john. People have warned us about the heat, and that things may be closed - did you come across anything like that? It seems logical that summertime is the time to go, especially with kids ! I appreciate any ideas or info that you have. We have not rented yet, but are looking. Have heard that cruz bay is good. where did you guys go?
thanks!

tlang, first it's st. john -no s- st.john's is the main town on antigua. also it's quite impractical to "hit" st. croix before moving to st.john. only way between these 2 islands is to fly, whereas st.thomas, st.john and all the bvi are in easy ferrying distance. you will have to fly onto st.thomas to get to st.john, so a day or two there is easy to plan.
re weather - temp should be high of 90 most days, it will not be rainy but is going to be humid. i see that you're from fla so don't think this will be too much for you.
my thought would be spend 2 days on st.thomas first. i suggest a 2 br condo at secret harbour beach resort on the east end. they have nice 3 meal restaurant, good beach bar/grill and excellent snorkeling from their very pretty beach. sh is about 10 mins from red hook where you will get the ferry to st. john. 10 mins the other direction to a large grocery store to stock up for your week on st. john. (unless homebound flt is early in the day in which case you might want to return to st. thomas the night before your flt.)
you may find a restaurant or 2 shut down in july on st.john but st.thomas is yr round because of the cruise ships.
can't advise st. john locations, as i've not stayed on the island, but if you post a new thread with location info needed in title i'm sure someone will offer info.
as an alterntive if you want really quiet you might look at the houses on mahoe bay beach on the island of virgin gorda (this beach has good snorkeling)
