Birthday dinner in San Juan
 

We're going to be in San Juan for my birthday. Looking for something special, not too formal, and not ridiculously expensive- ideally, romantic, local cuisine, creative and not too far from Condado. Any thoughts most welcome!

steve...my husband and i went to a restaurant called "carli cafe concierto"in old san juan when we went to puerto rico in february. the food was EXCELLENT (i had filet mignon, my husband had salmon filet)...our best dinner in puerto rico in fact. the restaurant is owned by former pianist for the beach boys, carli munoz. the restaurant is small, intimate, mood lighting, geared for adults. there's a bar inside as well. the owner was there that night and played the piano (he apparently does that quite a bit)...really nice romantic touch. you can eat outside, but it's at the corner of a busy intersection so you lose that intimate romantic feeling if you did that.
i highly recommend it (the food was truly wonderful).

We celebrated our wedding anniversary in San Juan last year & decided on Pamela's for dinner. It is right on the beach, has great food & service & is romantic. Very classy. The place is a small hotel with a restaurant. I highly recommend it.
