Best Secluded Beach in BVI

Hey folks:

Just wondering if anyone has suggestions regarding the best secluded beach in Tortola. I mean we like those that are almost deserted with one or two souls around.

Also, any suggestions on the best day trip option to Virgin Gorda?

Thanks

We enjoyed Smuggler's Cove and Brewer's Bay (2 beaches that most people rave about), but they definitely weren't secluded by your definition--there were anywhere from 15-45 people at any given time. The only truly secluded beach we visited during our trip to Tortola last July was Long Bay East on Beef Island near the airport. It must have been close to a mile long, with good snorkeling along the western edge. When we first got there, there was a local volunteer clean-up crew we chatted with for a bit, but after they left we had that entire gorgeous beach to ourselves. NO facilities, so bring drinks & snacks, and not a lot of shade after 11:00 am. But it was really beautiful and quite deserted. After several hours there we packed up our stuff and headed to Fat Hog Bob's, just up the road, for lunch because we were starving by that time. (We somehow forgot both drinks and snacks back at our hotel that morning!)

Josiah's Bay is very pretty and secluded with one beach bar. The surf is strong, but it stays shallow for a ways out.

Take the ferry to Virgin Gorda and arrange a car rental with Mahogany, they will meet you at the ferry. The driving on Virgin Gorda is fairly easy and quiet. If you rent a car, you will be able to cover the whole island in one day.

Agree to take the ferry to Virgin Gorda.

We actually rode the Little Dix Bay ferry for free and spent the day there (but that wasn't free). We spent about $250 for five people on lunch and it was totally worth it.

My favorite 'secluded' beach is Long Bay-Beef Island. In the times I've been there, I've never seen more than 2 or 3 people. It's a gorgeous long white sand beach. There are no facilities there, so take your own drinks, snacks, chairs, towels.

I think you are more likely to find secluded beaches on Virgin Gorda: Spring Bay, Devil's Bay, Savannah Bay, Valley Trunk (but not the Baths, which canget crowded). As others have said, go early, rent a car, and explore!

Spring Bay and Savannah bay (gorgeous) on VG. If you do not want to rent a car you can still walk over to Spring Bay.
