Best Sandals in Jamaica?
I understand their are 7 Sandals in Jamaica. Any thoughts on which one is the best! My Husband and I have been to the Sandals in the Bahamas and have stayed at the Royal Hideaway in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. We enjoy large beautiful beaches that you can walk on for miles and sailing, snorkling and good food in a more upscale resort.

We have not been to all Sandals in Jamaica but have been to The Royal Caribbean, Sandals Negril and Sandals Whitehouse two times. Whitehouse is definitely (in our opinion) the best resort. We have been twice and plan on returning again after we celebrate our 40th anniversary in St Lucia. Do join the SSG as you will find it is worth it. We are collecting our free week in St Lucia. Whitehouse is 1.5 hours from the airport but I enjoy the ride because you see the real Jamaica. They do have a bathroom stop on the way. The property is huge so bring your walking shoes! They have a nice quiet pool at the Dutch Village but they also have a huge pool with swim up bar and another pool with swim up bar. Depending on your mood is where you go. The pastry shop is great and I really enjoy all the restaurants. If you like Jamaican fare the outdoor Bluefield's is where to go for lunch. The place hardest to get into in the evening is Eleanor's and once you've eaten there you'll understand why!Any questions just post it and I'll answer to the best of my ability.

We have been to all the Sandals Resorts
and loved them all with the exception of 1 which is the Sandals Royal Carribean...to stuffy for us.Caribegal is right the Whitehouse is a super resort. Very large and pools are great the pastry shop is wonderful. The beach is a very nice walking beach. The food is also very good at this resort. If beach is what you are looking for then I would look into Sandals Negril. We have been there twice with another stay booked for Feb 08 for 9 nights. The sailing and snorkling is great at this resort. The are doing a major renovation on this resort putting in river suites and is posted to be done in Jan 08.Please feel free to email if you have any ? on any of the resorts(except Antigue) are making plans to stay at that Sandals in "08". |
I stayed at the Negril Sandals on my last trip to Jamaica and REALLY loved it. I also stopped by two of the other Sandals (in Montego Bay) and I think the "best" one really depends on exactly what you are looking for.
There's a great overview that compares the pros and cons of the various Sandals at: http://travel.spotcoolstuff.com/jama...-resort-review |
I don't know anything about Sandals resorts, but Negril is most definitely my pick for a destination in Jamaica.
