I am sure this has been covered here, but I'm<BR>sort of new to this board. Are hotel rates in Jamaica pretty much the same directly from the property, or travel agent? Does any<BR>travel agency discount more deeply? <BR>I don't need airfare included. Thanks for <BR>your help! This board is great!

Travel Agents work by getting a commission from the hotel. Sometimes when the hotel is not heavily booked you can get much better deals through an agency. Some agencies specialize in the carribean so they know all the ins and outs of the island and can be of alot of help.<BR><BR>My favorite agency is Liberty Travel, based in the New York area. Yes, I agree. A good travel agent can get a good deal for you that you couldn't get yourself. I use a travel agent named Penny([email protected])<BR><BR>She says that she will beat any offer. I've got a great deal for a trip in a few weeks through her. E-mail her what you're looking for and see what she comes back with.

I have to agree with the suggestion on Liberty Travel - they do get some really good deals. I personally have never found better rates booking direct but worth a call to see!<BR><BR>Also, look on the web. Jamaica is so popular now, especially the larger resorts, that there are so many travel agents on the web that offer pretty good deals.

Most times you will get a much better rate from an agency as opposed to calling a hotel directly.
