OK we decided to go to Turks and Caicos. Staying at the Regent Palms. will take pictures and write a trip report. If anyone is still reading this...any favorite restaurants? Figure we will go as a family a few nights and then leave the kids and hubby and I will go to someplace really nice . My goodness, can't wait to go I live for this!

Go next door to The Somerset to O'Soleil for dinner, very chic and great food! Fridays has live music and request a table outside in the Zen Garden. Lunch at The Somerset (LunaSea is excellent) or just past The Somerset is Bay Bistro (Sibonne hotel) Excellent lunch and dinner, just past Bay Bistro is Hemingways ( at Sands resort) very good casual food, music on tuesday I think. In the other direction is Alexandra resort (next to Palms) they have a caribbean buffet with music on Monday (only $25.00) Check out Magnolia,(taxi) sits on hill , over looks Turtle Cove marina, excellent Tuna! Coco Bistro ( take Taxi)-beautiful space and great food!
Other favs- Caicos Cafe, Grace's Cottage, Iguana. If you have a rental car--go to Blue Hills and eat at Da Conch Shack (lunch or dinner, live music on Thursday night)Fun place , kids would love lunch and watching the guys dive for conch, talk about fresh!

All great suggestions! Thank you! Gawd can't wait to feel the heat, smell the ocean and see the beautiful water!

Do you think we should rent a car? The whole time or just a few days? I figure we will go out on a few excursions by sea but might be fun to explore new beaches and make it to some of the restaurants you suggest farther away?

We rent a car from Grace Bay Car rentals, excellent, older cars , great shape and cheaper prices. Maybe rent even for part of the stay! As you said, use it to drive to non walkable dining Grace Bay car rentals will bring the car to The Palms and pick it up when you are done.( Taxis charge per person, car pays for it self) Also, go to IGA to stock up on snacks, lunch stuff if you want and they sell liquor there as well.
