Best Place To Stay

We would like to go to Antigua in December with our two children, ages 18 and 20. Looking for a great place to stay with a beautiful beach and no small children. Any suggestions?

It's hard to stay at a resort where there are no children other than the "couples" type resorts--you might try the Blue Waters Resort on a beautiful setting with a very friendly staff. See information and travelers comments at Where2Stay.com.
Be sure to go to Shirley Heights atop the mountain on Sunday and join the crowds toasting the beautiful sunset over the ocean. Barbecue food, live music and bar at S.H.

Thank you for the info. We were in Antigua in 1985 and stayed at the Halcyon Cove Resort. It was one of the best at the time, being on Dickenson Bay and calm waters as opposed to English Harbor and other spots. Do you know anything recent about the Rex Halcyon Cove?

I stayed at Sandals (next door) over Christmas and the Rex Halcyon looked very nice. It is on a great beach, as you said, with calm waters.

You may also want to check out Jolly Beach Resort or Pineapple Beach Resort. wheretostay.com is a great site for this info

Hi Judy:
We stayed at Sandals on our last trip and down the beach was the Halcyon Cove. We personally were not impressed with the Halcyon Cove and there were several families with small children.
We also walked on the beach by Pineapple Beach Resort and again not too impressed.
In just our opinion, your best bets are Blue Waters, Curtain Bluff and Jumby Bay. I'm sure if you research past posts you may get more info on other properties. A co-worker of my husband and his wife stayed at Blue Waters and said they had a great vacation.
A lady I used to work with had stayed at the Royal Antiguan Resort for a short vacation and had positive things to say about the property, however this is a budget property and may not be what you are looking for.

We went to Antigua over christmas time and stayed at the Cocobay resort. Beautiful place, the beach was very calm and not crowed at all like the Dickensos Bay.
