Best place for two single girls in early 20s?!
 

Hi, my friend and I are planning on taking a trip next year (June 2015) and we are steering towards Bahamas.

What are the best all inclusive resorts for our age group? We want to find a place that is geared towards young singles and NOT families/couples.

We are open to other suggestions in the carribean but do not want to go to Mexico.

We want to stay safe, have fun, relax and be on a beach! We think all inclusive will be best for affordability reasons.

No suggestions from anyone??

I'd like to help but I don't know a thing about the Bahamas. Negril Jamaica is my favorite Caribbean vacation spot, but mostly I go to Puerto Vallarta Mexico (which you aren't interested in).

You are not going to find what you are looking for in the Bahamas. If you're not willing to go to Mexico, which is a huge mistake on your part as it has everything you are looking for, look at Jamaica or the DR. However, I felt safer in Mexico than those two destinations. Check out the RIU's. They can be located in all those destinations.

I would have thought Mexico would have been ideal for early 20s. I understand Tulum has quite a party scene and is the place to be for NYE amongst other times, according to some articles I have read. I quite liked the hotel zone in Cancun too, some very nice hotels along that strip on a beautiful beach with plenty of dining options, shopping malls etc. It's a bit like Miami Beach, in that it's a long line of hotels.

Apart from that, I would suggest the following destinations, which might not be all inclusive ie either it is not available or it's not necessary to have it

St Maarten/St Martin
Barbados
Aruba
Negril, Jamaica

Although expensive, I would also suggest Grand Cayman (good dining options at Camana Bay, also has some less expensive places to eat and has a glorious beach).

Most of the AIs I have stayed in are a mix of people and are not especially geared towards one group of people or another.

It is a shame that you have ruled out Mexico. I agree with the previous posters that it would be the perfect place for you.

Of course...it's called being misinformed!! LOL I find it amazing how many folks will miss out on a very safe tropical destination based on what has been said by the useless media, or Aunt Harriet who said it's super dangerous!!

Personally I have always felt safer in Mexico than anyplace I've been in the Caribbean. Just how I feel about it.

If you are going towards the spring break time period this is the perfect resort because many young people gravitate towards the all inclusive amenities. If not you can still get day passes to the Atlantis and go to some clubs they have there.

i have the same issue... we are heading somewhere in June 2015 but cant find a good location that isnt family oriented or couples retreat... would like an island but probably will be forced to go to Cancun...

"Forced" on vacation? I want that problem!

I've never been to Puerto Rico, but it's on my bucket list.

Staying in a US territory could make your life easier. We also liked The Buccaneer, on St Croix. Not an AI, though breakfast buffet is included, use of snorkel and kayak gear is free.

From what city will you be flying? It can make a big difference, how many flights you need to take to the Caribbean. Jet Blue took us nonstop from Boston to our connection, at San Juan, PR.

It's not a place that would interest me, but for 20 something year olds Breezes on Cable Beach in the Bahamas would offer what you are looking for. There it's not a "couples" resort but there won't be little children since you have to be at least 14 to stay there.
