Best Morningstar room?

I am going to the Marriott Morningstar and have a Ocean View requested. What is best building and room? 1st floor for instant beach access or 3rd for view? We are in Non-Smoking - is that Bldg 3-4-5?

Thanks a million!!!!

Hi.
Try doing a search on this forum...at the top of the page type in Morningstar...and then click on the USVI. My comments are there under #9.
Note: Bldgs. 1 & 2 are smoking...3,4,5 are non-smoking. Even if you are staying on the 1st floor, you still have a balcony to enjoy the view from your room (however you are also in plain view of everyone from the beach).
Have a great vacation!

Thanks tjcm:

I did see your earlier post - very helpful. Is building #1 the one closest to the restaurant and #5 the last one down (away from the restaurant) the beach? Have you had experience with 1st and 3rd floor Morningstar Ocean Front rooms? In your opinion which did you prefer? Any room number recommendations?
Thanks a miilion for any additional insight.

Bldg. #1 is closest to the reception area (where you check in)and the farthest away from the beach restaurant (Coco Joe's); then 2,3,4, and 5...with Bldg. 5 closest to Coco Joe's.
I'm sorry, I do not know about the oceanview rooms, however I think I'd rather enjoy the view/privacy from a 3rd floor balcony, as versus folks walking right by me (i.e. within plain view) on the 1st floor.
Also, if you are going during "season" (12/15-4/15) I understand that there are bands playing sometimes at Coco Joe's which may affect your sleeping comfort (if you are in bldg. 5).
Personally, I'd go for bldg 3...puts you half way from the open air lobby/ small grocery store and then half way to Coco Joe's and then the pool area on the beach.
Enjoy!

We did a third floor room in building 4 last January. Great view and no problem with noise. I would not opt for a 1st floor as people can see in your room if you don't have the plantation style doors shut.

Thank you for the response. How big are the rooms? With 2 kids(12&14)should I do a king with 2 rollaways or a room with 2 dbls and 1 rollaway? Any other advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

The rooms are really not that large. I would probably opt for the two double beds and one roll away. To be honest, I was not that impressed with the Marriott Morningstar. I did not find the service to be on par with the price and there is nothing special about the rooms (they could use an updating). However, the location/view on Morningstar Beach is amazing, the balconies are spacious and the grounds are pretty. The proximity to Charlotte Amalie is also a perk. Another upscale option is the Ritz Carlton whick is located fairly close to Red Hook which gives you many options for escaping to St. John and the B.V.I's, which I highly recommend.

If you're not aware of www.tripadvisor.com, you should visit to see lots of review on the Marriott Frenchman's Reef/Morningstar. By the way, we split our trip between the Westin on St. John (which we really liked) for 4 days and the Marriott Morningstar for 5 days. Sorry to ramble...let me know if you have further questions.
