daytrips and horseback riding on Tortola

After much debate and several setbacks, we've finally booked the Sugar Mill Hotel for four nights in July for a trip with our granddaughter. We would like to book one daysail, either half or full day, for snorkeling and so far I've looked at Patouche, White Squall and Aristocat--the trips seem comparable and I was wondering if anyone had any particularly good or bad experiences with any of them, or another you'd like to recommend. I've searched here and found some older comments on Patouche that were positive but not the others.

Secondly, our granddaughter would like to try horsebackriding and I read somewhere that the Mt. Sage stables offers both a mountain trail ride and a beach ride. Do you recommend one over the other?

And just what does the big breakfast at the North Shore Shell Museum entail? And is it within reasonable walking distance/time from the Sugar Mill?

Granddaughter is a pretty picky eater, so I'd love some recommendations for dinner places--we'll probably alternate nights with what husband & I want to do with places she'll find more on the menu she'll like. So, definitely the Sugar Mill for one night and Pusser's for another. Seems like the places on Cane Garden Bay are more of the hamburger/sandwich establishments. Any in particular that y'all like?

Thanks a bunch!

Some great restaurants close to Sugar Hill is Palms Delight, which is right down the road on the sea side going towards from Carrot Bay to Cane Garden Bay. You could walk from Sugar Hill. The food is outstanding. Also Cocoplum which is to the left of Sugar Hill on the hill that goes to West End (can't think of the name of the road something Hill).

Also Sebastians is wonderful. They are right down the road from Sugar Hill. Great place to watch the sunset (but so is Sugar Hill). IMHO I thought the restuarants in the Carrot Bay area were much better than CGB. CGB was more touristy and had more bars/nightlife.

We didn't go to the NSSM but I heard that is was good.

We didnt go on a snorkeling boat trip so can't comment. You might try snorkeling at Brewers Bay if you've got a car. We enjoyed several days down there. There's nice beach bar with good burgers and they rent chairs.

Pusser's was okay, but very crowded. Try Jolly Roger, right across the bay by the ferry terminal (West End). They had good food and great rum punches!

Have fun. Peace, Greenie
