Best Island for Singles

My friend and I (we're both female) are in our late 30's and we're looking to travel in late July or early August to an island where we can do water sports, relax on the beach, gamble, dance at night, and not have to be overly concerned with safety. We've never been to the Caribbean and many of the islands sound rather similar. We're considering either an all inclusive vacation or just a vacation package. We don't want to end up on an island that is more geared towards couples or families. Any thoughts or insights would be appreciated. My email address is [email protected]
Thanks!

Puerto Rico, although it does not have any all-inclusives.

hello!! I'm a female solo traveler, I
have gone to the carribean a lot.I would
recomend Aruba, Bahamas, Turk & Caicos,
Cayman isl. they are all safe and beautifull. " DO NOT GO U.S VIRGIN ISL.
OR JAMAICA." NOT SAFE.
I WOULD GO TO A CLUB MED. FOR SINGLES THEY ARE SAFE AND FUN. THERE IS 1 IN BAHAMAS AND 1 IN TURK.... ALSO IN TURKS
PUERTO RICO IS NICE BUT VERY EXPENSIVE
AND SOMEWHAT SAFE. CANCUN IS A CHOICE.IS
FUN LOTS OF NIGHTCLUBS, BEACHES ARE TO DIE FOR , AND LOTS TO DO. I'M GOING TO DOMINICAN REP. NEXT JULY.
HAVE FUN.

St. Martin, Orient Beach.
one word: Man-tastic! Plus all the other things you mentioned.....constant action (or just vegging on the beach)plus sports, restaurants, beach bars, clubs, etc. etc. etc.

If you're not feeling that rowdy
Aruba would be good, has great beaches , water sports and gambling too, and good dance clubs downtown. But there's no beach action there, just one hotel after another with nothing really going on in between.

I disagree with the previous poster as St. Martin Orient Beach for singles. Just got back from St. Martin and IMO, it's a place for couples! Couples holding hands everywhere. The beach bars are lame, the bands they play are aweful. A better nightlife is St. Maarten (Dutch side). The restaurants are great though on the French side St. Martin. I agree though with San Juan, particularly Old San Juan in Puerto Rico as a better choice for singles. Lots going on during the weekend for nightlife. Much more so than SXM (St. Maarten).
