We stayed at Elbow Beach last October and LOVED it. we booked one of the beach rooms, like Anon did, but were also disappointed when we looked at it. We went back to the reception desk, told them that we didn't like the room and they promptly upgraded us to a deluxe oceanview room in the main hotel.

The room was much, much nicer, not to mention the great view being so high up gave you. We didn't mind the walk to the beach one bit, in fact we like the bit of extra exercise. We had a great time at Elbow Beach and thought it had the best location on the island. Close to Hamilton on a gorgeous beach. They even have a convenient on-site scooter rental. We took the scooter into town every night. Only took us 5 minutes.

I'd definitely go back.

We checked out Horizons and found it a bit stuffy. It was very old money, in a musty sort of way. Not a lot of privacy. I also didn't like the fact that it wasn't right on the beach. Many of our friends have stayed there though and loved it.

Cambridge beaches is very remote, quite a hike to town. Also, 6 of our friends stayed there and wouldn't go back. Too remote, for $ 600/night, they thought the rooms weren't up to snuff, and one friend, who is a news junkie, was a little ticked that he had to pay extra for a TV in his room. Just thought I'd give you that info if it's important to you, which it is to some people.

We also went to the Reefs, which has the most spectacular, clifftop setting. We looked at a room there and I'd LOVE to try it on our next visit. The restaurants there are fabulous, and the view from the terrace is just incredible.

My vote for a pre-baby splurge is the Reefs. You can always do a big, Elbow Beach trip with kids (they have a kids program_.

I also visited the Reefs, to have dinner at Coconuts. I'd also like to stay there some day; the beach looked beautiful, and people have said the service is great. But again, if having a TV is important to you, I think they're not available in most of the rooms--maybe just in one of the suites and in the cottages.

I just returned from a criuse to Bermuda. While we were there we visited many of the hotels.

We thought the Elbow Beach was beautiful; however, we did not see the rooms.

We would NEVER consider staying there though as it is owned by a Royal Saudi who has recently poured 50 million oil dollars into it. The Royal Saudis are looking for places to invest their money outside of Saudi Arabia. Any profits from that hotel could and probably will be used to promote terrorism and propaganda.

Aftet 9/11, I'll put my money elsewhere.

Henry,

What do u mean by "Any profits from that hotel could and probably will be used to promote terrorism and propaganda." Are you insinuating that all Saudi's are terrorists? Let me assure you that GENERALIZATION is INCORRECT, not to mention ignorant.
I recommed one of the new suites at the Reefs. They were completely redone in 2001, and are very nice (although not at the level of a 4 Seasons or Ritz). They had tvs with VCR, Bose stereos, soaking tubs, private decks, and awesome views. Plus, the Reefs is in a great location near the South Shore beaches, has a beautiful private beach, and very good food and service.
