Best Beach Islands

I've been disappointed with the beaches in our last two vactions. Those beaches had been wiped out by hurricanes (Mexico & Jamaica). I would love to hear where you think the Caribbean's best beaches are located and if you believe them to be still in tact as of 7/30/02.

Anguilla has 33 gorgeous beaches -- all are intact. Check out http://beaches.ai

The Caymans!!!!!!

Grand Cayman has beautiful 7 mile beach... where the sand is white and the water crystal clear. There is also Rum Point where you can walk in crystal clear water up to your waist for quite distance. There's terrific and loveley public beach areas... Smith's Cove, West Bay Beach which is gorgeous to walk on, Spotts Beach which is great to watch the sunset and the beach area by Cemetary Reef which has excellent snorkelling.

www.caymanislands.ky

En joy

Lori

Turks and Caicos, Punta Cana, Grand Caymen, Aruba.
The Bloody Bay in Negril Jamaica has not been wiped out.

Punta Cana has the most beautiful beaches that I have ever seen. I am a Caribbean Specialist and have been fortunate enough to have traveled to about 12 islands. Antigua has 365 beaches. One for each day!

Varadero beach in Cuba is amazing, as well as Cayo Coco beach in Cuba...If your not an American, I suggest going there for a beautiful beach.

Caribbean Specialist -- how would you compare Punta Cana with Barbados -- that's the island I love best, including it's beaches.

only one answer for me, Anguilla but Turks and Caicos are lovely but not Caribbean.

Hi Lois,
I have not been to Barbados, so I can only share what clients have told me. Barbados is a wonderful island with gorgeous beaches and great diving. The choices for resorts are much more limited than in Punta Cana. Not saying that is bad, just informing you.

The main difference is that Barbados is an island and Punta Cana is a resort area in the Dominican Republic. (DR is an island shared by Haiti) The development there started around '95 with all-inclusive resorts being dominant. The reason it was developed was because of the beauty. I truly cannot describe how pristine and wide the beaches are. The beaches are at least 100 ft wide with palm trees stretching all the way to the waterline. You can stand at the shoreline and look either direction and it is the exact same as far as you can see. If you walked to the end, it would start over.

Some people have posted that they got sick, or hated the area. Keep in mind, that we are all entitled to our opinions. What one person loves, another will hate, and if you ask 10 people, chances are you will get 10 different answers.

I can only go by my experience and that which my clients share with me upon their returns. I take tons of pictures of my trips on my digital and email them to my clients. All that have requested Punta Cana and have seen the pics, have booked and been very happy.

I hope this helps.
Antigua has great beaches - but for the truly breathtaking, try the sister island - Barbuda. K-club is exorbitantly expensive, but Palmetto is just viable, and stunning. Isolated, though.

Where in Jamaica did you go? It probably was not NEGRIL. The beach there is stunning and hard to beat.

Other great 'beach islands' are St. Johns, Anguilla, Antigua, BVI and Bermuda. Beach hopping is a must, since there are so many lovely (shorter) beaches.

For long beautiful beaches, definetly Grand Cayman, Aruba, Grenada, Negril, Punta Cana, Barbuda and Provo (Turks and Caicos).

I think that Eleuthera in the Bahamas has some of the most beautiful and dramatic pink and white sand beaches anywhere. They are also quite secluded and private.

Bahamas; Harbour Island

Aruba's Eagle Beach.
linda Aug 2nd, 2002 10:18 AM

BVI's (you can drop by a different gorgeous, deserted beach each day - can't beat that)
St Johns, USVI
ok - not in the carribbean but:
Mauna Kea in Hawaii
Bermuda
and I hear the mayan riviera is wonderful and can't wait to find out -
