Best Beach in the Bahamas
Hey all you Bahamas lovers out there! What's the best beach you've visited in the Bahamas? I thought the Cancer of Tropic beach in Exuma was pretty spectacular, but I'm curious to see what you all would recommend.
Thanks! Molly |
Ten Bay Beach on Eleuthera has my vote.
|
How is it possible to choose even one? Depends on where I am, what I'm looking for, the weather, etc. Some favorites:
Fernandez Bay, Cat Island Manjack Cay, Abaco Baker's Bay, Great Guana Cay, Abaco Pipe Creek, Exumas Ocean beach (in front of Nipper's), Great Guana Cay Tahiti Beach, Elbow Cay, Abaco Plus the dozens of unnamed, isolated strands available for the intrepid... |
I love Tilloo Bank because it was our first beach in the Caribbean.
We have only been to Abaco but like the look of the Exumas - particularly like the sand bar on Sandy Cay. Ah! the delights of google earth! |
Cape Santa Maria, Long Island (note-I've only been to New Providence, Paradise Island, and Long Island in the Bahamas, but CSM gets my vote of the beaches I've seen on those 3)
|
Harbour Island in front of Runaway Hill is my FAVORITE place in the world, 2nd would be almost any of the beaches on Eleuthera, the beach where Club Med was is almost as spectacular as Harbour Island.
|
I'm a lucky girl: been to Exumas, Eleuthera, Harbour Island, Abacos and San Salvador. (Plus of course, Grand Bahama and New Providence and Paradise Island)
Hard to rank, as they are some gorgeous strands, but some of my favorites: Tropic of Cancer is stunning and special-Moriah Cay in Exumas is even more spectacular! Coco Plum Beach there is really cool too. The most gorgeous one of all that I have seen is the Club Med Beach in San Salvador--amazing! It might be the most beautiful water in the world. Pink Sands Beach on HI is a stunner, as are French Leaving Beach (aka Club Med Beach) in Eleuthera. Treasure Island's beach is not too shabby either! Out Islands are blessed with gorgeous beaches, hard to pick a favorite, so my favorite is whichever one I happen to be on at the time! |
That is a tough question to answer, Molly. I've been pretty lucky, too, and have some favorites.
*Cat Island beaches: North Beach for white sand and calm water, Smith's Beach for crashing waves and and endless view of the beach; Fernandez Bay for calm beautiful water. *Treasure Cay Beach - the water and horizon blend together where you can't tell where the water ends and the blue sky begins. *Pink Sand's Beach on Harbour Island for pink, sparkling sand *Tropic of Cancer in Exuma for blinding, white sand and turquoise water; so many deserted, beautiful beaches around Great Exuma! *Ocean Beach, Nipper's beach on Great Guana Cay I know I've left one out but these come to mind. I agree with Blamona - my favorite is whichever one I happen to be on at the time. |
And now I'm going to step in and be difficult!
markrosy- the Bahamas are not in the Caribbean but in the Atlantic. Just a little piece of geography that's important to us Bahamians! |
Would any of these places be good for families? We want nice beaches and calm waters, if there's a resort, that's a plus.
|
I know this is difficult, sorry! I'm just curious which beach people would pick if they could only pick one. I see I have a lot of ground to cover still!
|
Lenlu-check out Cape Santa Maria on Long Island. It has luxury villas that are part of a small resort. The beach and water are amazing with no waves. It's great for families too.
|
If we can only pick one--
the Club Med beach at San Salvador! It has the most amazing turquoise water, and bright white sand. All the others come close, but the one in San Salvador is extra special. |
Molly, thanks for asking the question, now I have research to do too! Kellybeaches, I'll check it out, I appreciate it.
|
by far, the best beach that I have visited in the Bahamas islands is the pink sand beach of Eluthera....I've been to many of the samll islands and this by far is the most beautiful...
|
Cape Santa Maria on Long Island, Guana Cay in Abacos and Tahiti Beach on Elbow Cay, Abacos
|
Ahhhh... Tahiti Beach.
T minus 26 days and counting. I think Guana and Nippers is an American thing - we just didn't get it! Abaco Inn for us. |
Markrosy- if you have not, try Nippers for lunch on a week day when it can be a nice peaceful lunch, pretty view, and few people (if you hit it like we have)- I did the Sunday thing a few times when I was younger but it is not for me any more either. I like the bar/patio at HHL myself but the Abaco Inn has that nice view of both sides so I know what you mean.
I am not sure I can actually choose my favorite beach in the Bahamas- Old Club Med on Eleuthera, Lighthouse Beach on Eleuthera, Tahiti as you say, Cape Santa Maria on Long Island, and several I don't know a name for around Staniel Cay in the Exumas- I think any one I am lucky enough to be on is my favorite at the time, too. Wish I were there now! |
I just don't know - lots a people eating fried food and getting drunk - reminds me too much of home!
Mother and Father called last night from their holiday. 46oC in the shade and they claim to be on the best beach in the world (disputed by many). See what you think http://www.instatravel.org/images/wh...n-beach_45.jpg |
Any more takers to vote for your ONE favorite beach in the Bahamas? It looks like Pink Sands Beach on Harbour Island and Cape Santa Maria on Long Island are the most mentioned.
