Best All-Inclusive in Negril and St. Thomas to get married and honeymoon?

We’ve pretty much narrowed our wedding location down to Negril, Jamaica. We’ve never been there before or anywhere in the Caribbean for that matter. St. Thomas is a possibility as well. Mexico was in first place but it sounds like too much of a hassle and somewhat expensive so we've eliminated that. Plan to go there for first anniversary instead.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on what you think is the BEST all-inclusive resort in Negril to get married and honeymoon. Not really considering Sandals. Have heard too many negatives. Is St. Thomas a better location for us first timers' wedding? If so, what are good AI resorts there?

Thanks very much for your help. You guys have been so helpful so far. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Negril
Caves is wonderful, small, intimate, quiet and expensive (do not know if they do free weddings).

Grand Lido Negril-Free Weddings, 24 hour room service, manicure and pedicure, yacht Zein (most of the year),
beautiful beach, but no swim up bar, Spa, all rooms Jr. Suites or Suites.

Couples Negril
Next door, has swim up bar, beautiful beach. Due to lush folige, no rooms are truely beachfront. Small Spa, all in all a great mid-size property.

Couples Swept Away
Great, romantic rooms, but no TV. The lanai's in the Atrium and Beachfront rooms are wonderful for just relaxing.
More quiet and sports oriented. No swim up bar, in fact the pool is small, most people use the beach.
All 3 of these properties offer FREE WEDDINGS.
If going in September, SuperClubs (GL Negril) is offering a free stay for the same number of nights in Sept 2003 (all dates must be in Sept.)
These are low rise (no more than 2-3 stories)

St Thomas
Wyndham is the best AI. Weddings are extra, so this would cost more.
Highrise property on a cliff with a small beach below.

Mayan Riviera Mexico
Ususally lower than Jamaica or VI.
El Dorado Royale offers Free Wedding if staying 7 nights or more in a Beachfront or Casita Room.
This is usually much lower than Jamaica.
Other properties charge $1200 and up for the wedding.

Caribbean Specialist you truly are the best. Time and time again I see relatively similiar questions posted here and you never get in their face rudely screaming at them to "do a text search" etc. You are kind and informative, always! Thank you from someone that once too was a rookie to this forum and someone that you shared your information with patiently.

I was going to make some Negril sugestions for Caribbean Specialist made them all. He or She is good. I personally loved couples negril the best on the fam trip I was on. I was so well layed out, the rooms were beautiful, and the beach was amazing. I really thought it had a lot of charm. We did our trip in December, and they had 3 men in the lobby singing Christmas carols. Actually they were singing Jingle Bells which was funny since there is no snow. It was a nice touch.

The Grand Lido is a fabulous choice, you will not be dissapointed. My husband and I have been going there every November for the past 8 years. I know you will be pleased they really go out of their way to make sure your happy. Brian Drew is the GM, ask to be upgraded to one of the new suites on the beach if it's not a peak time. Have fun where ever you end up!

Can only comment on Negril - GL Negril is the best resort there to get married. We were married on the yacht that they own, at sunset - very romantic and private and they were so wonderful and attentive to make our day so perfect. It is a more luxurious resort, beautiful rooms, excellent food and beach.

Agree with not looking into Sandals. While we have been to many and have enjoyed ourselves, the wedding have become very cheesey and too public. No comparision to GL
