Best AI for Adults

I am planning my 10 yr anniversary and want to go somewhere warm in Oct. 2007. We have been thinking Sandals Royal Bahamian, but there are so many AI out there. We are flying from Chicago so would rather not spend all day flying (we did St. Lucia for our Honeymoon and it as an all day affair to get there). I would prefer adults and/or couples only resorts. Great beaches and pools are a must, and some good Scuba diving would be a plus. We tend to get our money worth on drinks and food at AI and would rather know our cost up front. Usually we stay at the resort and don't do a lot of tours. I have been leaning towards Sandals since they have so many restaurants right on the property. I want pampering. We want to go for 7 nights to either the Caribean (not Jamaica) or Mexico. I can't get airfare prices yet, but I am thinking of the $4000 price range for the hotel. Any suggestions?

If you want pampering, check out the Royal Hideaway in Mexico.

We've been to Sandals Royal Bahamian and really enjoyed it. Enjoyed it much more than Sandals Grande St. Lucia.

Also look at Secrets Capri Riviera and Excellence Riviera Cancun in Mexico. They get really good reviews. There are many very nice AI properties in the Playa del Carmen/Mexican Riviera area.

bielfeldt, I second Royal Hideaway. Loved it. I loved the Playa del Carmen area. If you don't want to spend that much I've stayed at the Aventura Spa and Palace very close by as well. Food great people so nice in both resorts.I don't like to stay in a resort no matter how nice it is the plus about this area is a lot of day trips near by, 3 ruins, day trip to Cancun (which I don't like) or the Isle of M,,,,,. Another plus is that you can hop right over to Cozumel on a ferry and we all know there are know thats a fantastic place to dive.

Wyndham Sugar Bay St. Thomas...best AI and protected by US laws.

Greart beach, food, casino slots, scuba, SPA is incredible and staff.

Another vote for Royal Hideaway. We shy away from AI's but loved this place because it is an upscale luxury resort that happens to be AI. They do not allow children under 16. Restaurants were excellent, they had 5, all of which were upscale restaurants, no buffets. Service was excellent, spa was very good. We found a bit of a better deal by booking through travel-center.com rather than directly with hotel.

I am jumping on this thread as well. The Royal Hideaway was a beautiful resort. We enjoyed this AI hands down, compared to the Sandals Halcyon in St. Lucia we stayed at. We stayed at the RH 4 years ago and would definitely go back! - Susan
