Bermuda - which part of island to stay on?

Hello -
I will be visiting for 3 days in June - for the first time. It appears that some hotels are right in Hamilton, others are in Southampton Parish, others in Paget Parish and others over in St. George. Can anyone give me some advice on the best place to stay? We are in our early 40's (not bringing kids), likely will pick a relatively decent sized resort (rather than a boutique or B&B) and we won't spend much time sitting on the beach - prefer to explore, see the sights, enjoy good restaurants and drinks, etc.

Thanks in advance for your help!

First off, Bermuda is very small so it will be easy to get around and see the entire island from wherever you are staying.

If it is not a beach based vacation, and you want to enjoy fine dining and shopping you are definitely better off in Hamilton. You can get anywhere to the island from Hamilton via bus, ferry, or scooter. I'd look at the Hamilton Princess or Royal Palms.

Actually I just read that you don't want a boutique hotel. Royal Palms is quite small. Your best bet is DEF Hamilton Princess.

Have to agree that if you're looking for a resort enviroment, shopping and dining, and not a beach, the Fairmont Princess in Hamilton is your best bet. You'll have access to their private ferry to the sister property, Fairmont Southampton, on South Shore, so you can still pop over there, use the spa, private beach, golf, etc. St George's is a bit isolated for getting back and forth to the sights and activities.

Sign up for the Fairmont President's Club ahead of time if you want free wifi in your room.

There's a wonderful little gourmet market in the ground level of the office complex next door to the Princess, called Mile's. Coffee bar, great takeout lunches. Enjoy your trip!!
