Bermuda in May

Oh My!...Haven't been on this website in quite awhile and it has certainly changed. Considering a trip to Bermuda for a wedding anniversary in May 2010 and would love some suggestions. I've done no research at this point. What is high season? What's a good price for airfare?

Depending on the resort "High Season" rates go into effect anywhere between Mid-April and Mid-May..

Likewise, what's constitutes a "good airfare" depends on what city you you originate from - we need more information from you.

Cruise ships return in April and most hotel prices go up then, and you'll see the winter dining and shopping deals disappear.

I fly back and forth to Dallas often and am happy with a ticket in the 500-600 range, but can find them cheaper if I want less desirable flights. If you're flying from one of the BDA gateway cities, you can do much better than that. Visit bermudaairport.com for a list of which airlines fly here from which cities.

May is my fvorite month here - the weather's gorgeous!

What kind of accomodations are you thinking of?

Sorry...should have thought to give more info up front. Would depart from Atlanta and prefer smaller Inn type accommodations. This is a BIG anniversary, so we will probably splurge somewhat. I would also think that we'll stay for a minimum of 5 nights.

Depending on your days of travel I would think you'd find airfares in the $500 PP range for non-stop flights and perhaps as low as $425 PP if you are willing to make 1 or 2 connecting flights enroute.

There are lots of "smaller Inn" type places on Bermuda. Do a google search for "Bermuda Accomodations" or "Bermuda Hotels" and do some basic research to find places that meet your definition of "smaller Inn type accommodations" and choose those that fit your budget (sorry don't know how much "probably splurge " means in terms of actual dollars). Once you narrow your choices a bit repost here for comments on those places.

The obvious choice for flights is Delta direct from ATL. I wouldn't even consider a cheaper flight that had an extra stop. Every other airline is going to involve connections.

Are you interested in staying in town, or outside of town? Look at The Royal Palms and The Rosedon in Hamilton (smaller properties.) For luxury small resorts outside of town, check The Reefs and Cambridge Beaches.

Well thanks for all input. I've done some more research and we are totally switching gears. I think it will be Costa Rica instead!

We are also looking to visit Bermuda for our anniversary (15th) around Jun 2010. We've ordered or printed information from about 5 or 6 different places. Narrowed it down to 2 or 3 based on recommendation from people we know and reviews and reports from others here. It is enough to drive you crazy but we are planning on officially making reservation in the next 2 weeks. But I did find that if you have any type of question someone here will be able to help answer it.
While im here... Newstead??? Are you just basically staying at someone's timeshare?
