Bermuda in Late August

Hi. My friend and I are planning 5 days in Bermuda at the end of August. We are thinking about staying at Cambridge Beaches Resort since we are looking for a quiet, adult vibe to just hang out at the pool or beach and swim and read. Is there a better option? We'd also like to go out at night and to other hotels or places for drinks, dinner etc. What's best for two single gals to plan on Bermuda?

I think if you are interested in a fairly isolated, quiet, adult resort Cambridge Beaches is lovely. But you will be a fair distance from Hamilton, think $35 or more cab fare. I recommend you consider the Reefs or Elbow Beach where you will find a little more activity and a considerably shorter ride to Hamilton. Although not ocean front, Newstead is another generally adult property. It has a very lively bar.

Have a great trip. Bermuda is another world.

Hi. Thanks!
Yes. We are worried that cambridge is too secluded but that the others are too kid friendly/noisy and the rooms don't look very nice. Newstead seems nice but generic. Uggh. So confused! Reviews are really all over the place.
We want really nice rooms with access to a nice beach and the ability to go back to the hotel fairly easily to change etc. After a day out.

Cambridge Beaches is a lovely property, very old Bermuda. It has a nice spa, small and quiet. It is the most secluded of the top flight hotels.

Tourist kids are not a huge presence in Bermuda other than during school holidays. The Reefs, Elbow Beach and Newstead will not likely have many guests with children in late August.

Tucker's Point ( also fairly secluded), Hamilton Princess ( big hotel undergoing massive renovation), Elbow Beach, the Reefs and Cambridge Beaches probably have the nicest rooms. Easiest access to Hamilton is Newstead. Prettiest beach is Elbow, the Reefs or Cambridge. Most social opportunities Newstead, the Reefs, or Hamilton Princess.

I stayed at Newstead last Dec. My room was very clean and attractive with a large private patio and a terrific harbor view. The hotel's complimentary private ferry and van got me anywhere I needed to go. But the beach is a ten minute ride away.

Elbow and the Reefs are on major bus routes which run pretty much on schedule. They are a $15-20 cab ride from Hamilton. They have beautiful beaches right out your door.

Have fun!

This may not totally fit the bill, but a few years ago we stayed at The Fairmont Southampton. Yes, it's a bit generic, but the rooms are large, and the property is within walking distance of two pink beaches. Plus, it has all the usual amenities that big resorts offer from a few nice restaurants to a very good spa.

It also offers complementary ferry service to Hamilton.

I have no idea how family crazy it will be in August, but I think the property is large enough that you would be able to find a quiet area to relax.

Good luck!
