Bermuda in June
Our 30th anniversary is this June. We honeymooned in Bermuda and are looking forward to returning to celebrate. We are also attending a wedding at Elbow Beach while we are there. Any advice about where to stay? Our honeymoon was at Grotto Bay, but I've heard it is mainly families now, and needs updating. Thanks!

June is a perfect time to visit Bermuda, but it is also a very busy time. If you would give us some idea of your budget, activity interests, and location needs, we can probably suggest some hotels for you.
A good starting point to find a listing of hotels and the price ranges is www.bermudatourism.com |
We are thinking of staying for 5 nights. Very interested in The Reefs, but at $565 a night plus 10% service charge and 7.25 govt tax...well, that's a lot of money per night. I wonder if it's worth the expense, or if there is something else we should consider. The wedding we're attending is at Elbow Beach. How's that these days? Thanks again.

Elbow Beach is a lovely resort. the nicest accomodations are the beach front cottages. Coco Reef next door to Elbow is also nice on a smaller scale than Elbow. The Reefs is a gorgeous place with a devoted following of repeat visitors but as you have already noticed, pretty high end rates.
Do you want oceanfront? If not, consider Fourways Inn. It is not on the water but is about a ten minute cab ride from Elbow and shares beach privileges with Coco Reef. |
We are also going to Bermuda in June to celebrate our anniversary. We are staying at the Pompano Beach Club.
|
I toured Pompano when I was in Bermuda earlier this month. The renovations are very nice, the rooms are lovely and the spa was very attractive. The atmosphere is friendly and comfortable. Happy anniversary, janiekins

Remember to factor in that the Reefs may seem high, but include a full breakfast and dinner daily.
We thought it was very nice. Food is expensive in Bermuda and knowing most of your cost up front helped us. |
I read somewhere that major construction is going on next door to The Reefs. Possibly where the big Wyndham was taken down? Anyone have first hand knowledge of this? In a past trip we were next door to a resort being built, and were awakened by hammering instead of the sound of the ocean!
|
When I was there two weeks ago the construction had not started on the Wyndham site. I suggest you call and talk to the Reefs management about the construction schedule.
|
The date is coming closer, and we still have questions. Does anyone have recent first had information about the construction going on next door the The Reefs? Thanks so much.
|
We stayed at Elbow last year and it was amazing. I would suggest staying a renoavted room though-- not sure if they finished renovating all the rooms. I will say though, that elbow isn't inexpensive-- granted, we had a suite in one of the cottages, but i think it cost upwards to 700 per night. It was wonderful though.

I have heard that the construction has not started. You should call the Reefs and ask the manager to give you an update. Have a wonderful time in Bermuda and happy anniversary!
|
have you got a reservation already? I called the Reefs over a month ago, and they were fully booked from mid May till July 4th. we're staying at Pompano which looks great.
|
Yes, we do have a reservation thankfully. We are very much looking forward to our trip. I called and asked about construction and was told it has not yet started. I was advised to call the Wyndham group to get more info. Wyndham says the property has been sold, and is no longer theirs, so no idea about the construction. We'll cross our fingers. In the meantime, I'm wondering about the restaurants at the Reefs, since all dinners are included. We also have the right to do a "dine-around" deal with a few other properties. Anyone with recent experiences who might want to give recommendations or suggestions? Thanks again, everyone.

I would rank Cambridge Beaches as number one of the three choices in the dine around. Pompano would be a good second. I wouldn't bother with Coco Reef.
