Have one day in Belize city. Anyone hired a private guide? Not to impressed with what the cruise line (Carnival Legend) offers. Also stopping in Limon.<BR>Thanks

Just got back from a cruise with a 1/2 day stop in Belize City. Hired a private tour guide in a minivan for $20 per person. Nothing much to see - poverty, oppression. No worthwhile shopping, either. My suggestion, stay on the ship.

Please don't think that because you spend half a day in Belize city, you know it well. This is one reason why I don't go on a cruise. You spend a couple of hours on an island and you think you're an expert.

look up tubing with Reggie. It is all over the internet. You go tubing through caves in Belize. By the way, which date are you cruising? My daugher and I are going on the Carnival Legend on Jan 5,2003

Suggest you not spend the day in Belize City. As Jane said, not much to see there (been to Belize 6 times and never been to BC except the airport). The real beauty of Belize is found on the reef and in the rainforest. And a trip to the ruins is quite fascinating. You can hire a guide in BC or if you want to plan ahead I would suggest posting on www.belizeforum.com
