Ok. I think I have the perfect answer for you. Since you have a generous budget and are looking for beauty, seclusion and relaxation, I would follow the advice of others who have responded regarding Mahoe Bay and book at the Katitche Point Greathouse near Mahoe Bay in Virgin Gorda. I would if I could afford it! It is an unbelieveably gorgeous villa with 5 bedrooms. However, there is a separate, lavish master suite which can be booked just for 2 and you'll have the whole place to yourselves! If you can wait until August to go, right now www.luxurylink.com has a fabulous 7 night package up for auction with the starting bid of $5100 (regular price $10,000+) but you must travel between 8/21-10/2. I would go for it! If you can't wait until August, go to their website www.katitchepoint.com and check out rates for other dates.

If you go, let us know how you like it. It is my dream vacation and I would love to hear about it. Good luck!

If it's not too late I would check out Bel Air Plantation in Grenada. We just returned from our honeymoon there and loved it.

The villas are wonderful and the setting just beautiful. Definately the perfect spot to relax and curl up with a book!

For gailpeterson: Would love to hear more about your stay in Grenada. My wife and I are going in November. We're trying to decide between Bel Air and Calabash. Any other info you could provide would be appreciated. Thanks and congratulations.

Message to cousin:

I am responding to your inquiry to gailpeterson since I spent a week at Bel Air
Plantation in March and also visited the Calabash. As a point of reference, I have been to many of the "high end" resorts throughout the Caribbean, e.g. Peter Island,
Little Dix Bay, Young Island, Biras Creek,
Nisbet Plantation, etc. I must say that my experience at Bel Air Plantation was outstanding. The owner/manager, Susan Fisher, could not have been more accommodating, and the front office staff, including Sandra Martin, were excellent. The cottages are gorgeous, and contain every amenity. Even a cell phone was provided for my convenience. My one
suggestion is to rent a car, otherwise, you
will have to rely on taxis for relatively long
trips into town. The restaurant is excellent,
and you will not need to eat out every night.
Regarding the Calabash, I had a truly terrible experience there involving the manager and its general attitude, and perhaps this will influence your decision.
I also had an opportunity to view several
of the Calabash rooms, which did not hold a candle to the Bel Air. In any event, I will describe what happened. At the suggestion of the Bel Air staff, my daughter (college-age) and I went to the Calabash to the dive shop located on the property. My daughter wanted to do a dive, and before we booked,
I inquired (several times) as to whether, when she was out on the boat, I could remain on the beach and relax for the day
(I am a non-diver) and use the Calabash facilities. I was very explicit in my questions, since I was once embarassed in another Caribbean location when I was told
that I could not sit on a beach chair on the beach of another resort, even though the beach was public. Well, I was informed that
there would be no problem, since the scuba
operator was on the grounds of the Calabash and in fact brought customers to the Calabash, who, by the way, were encouraged to use the bar and restaurant
of the Calabash (more income, I guess). I reiterated that I did not want any embarassment, and would need to wait for
my daughter. Well, only a few minutes into
my stay on the beach (which, I might add,
was sparsely populated and not at all full
with Calabash guests during the period in question), a very surly and large security officer in full police uniform approached me (while sitting on a beach chair), telling me I had to get up and that the manager had directed the officer to remove me. I calmly went to the office of the Calabash, explained all of the foregoing, and a female staff member apologized but said she would have to call the manager. This individual (the English manager) was about the most pompous, arrogant person I have ever met, and told me that he had the "repeat guests to worry about", as though I was "typhoid Mary" or something. I was thoroughly embarassed, and was distressed that I had done everything to avoid the situation. By the way, all beaches in Grenada are public, but I somehow offended this individual by using a chair. Again, I had done my "due diligence" in advance, and was told that I could use the facilities as a customer of the dive shop operating on the premises and with the "blessing" of the Calabash. It was a totally unnerving experience, and in view of the absolute degrading behavior to which I was subjected, I must say that I do not believe the the Calabash deserves your business. I will also note that I am a respectable, professional person (although this should have been irrelevant) and was treated with complete disdain. I certainly appreciate any rules of the property, but I had asked about the policy in advance, and was assured that there would be no problem. I have not posted this experience before, but felt compelled to do so now. In my opinion, you can not make a better choice than the Bel Air Plantation.

My Friend, go to Providenciales in Turks & Caicos!!! No cruise ships park there and the beaches are AMAZING! The snorkling and diving is insane...as well as the fishing.
I am booking yet another trip there with my entire family in a killer 5 bedroom Villa with a pool for just $4000 for the week...Oh yeah, the Wife thinks it's the Best island in the Caribbean that we have ever been to! And we have been to a few. Nice and quiet, sandbars that go on forever, cool people and all-inclusives if you are into that. but I would suggest just renting a Villa. There are many crazy new homes being built there that are soooo clutch.
Do not go to Barbados unless it is for the surfing, the natives are very restless. We witnessed a couple attacked and the woman was practically sexually assaulted.

Cousin,

I would highly recommend Bel Air Plantation. It is a very special, unique, small resort. The villas are beautiful, very high end furnishing and decor but somehow they have also managed to make them cozy and comfortable. The place has a real Caribbean feel to it. The setting is spectacular with wonderful views from any part of the property. It is a small resort (I would guess a dozen or so villas) but has quite a bit to offer. The restaurant is outstanding and very romantic. Their chef, Craig is a real gem. There is an infinity egde pool located just below the villas on the hillside with gorgeous views. Also, there is a small grocery store which is really nice since the villas have kitchens. We stocked up on breakfast stuff, drinks and snacks and found it to be really nice that we could return to the villa and relax on our veranda with a drink or have coffee immediately when we woke up. The staff is amazing. They are very helpful and attentive but also have a great sense of guest privacy. I agree with Boonie that you can not make a better choice. We have already planned to visit again next year.

I would suggest Villa Paradiso in Nevis
The villas are spectacular, right on the beach. They have hotel services but the privacy of a villa. We rented a 4
bedroom villa with an outdoor Bath! Nevis sounds like the perfect island for you-peaceful, quiet, wonderful people. Take a look
